General MLS Discussion

Crazy to think about how right now LA and RSL are the only two teams that can end week two with 6 points. if LA win today vs red bull, and if RSL play that game in hand of theirs.

I wonder what sort of implications that has for the rest of the season or if it just happens to be a blip
Blip. I fully expect the best teams (and by chance some middling teams) to go on winning streaks of 3+ games over the course of the season. It's no shock for no team to win twice, almost certainly one of them on the road, in the first set of games. Then you get two teams who won their first games playing each other which makes somebody going 2 for 2 very likely, and they draw (LAFC and SEA) which is not quite freakish but a bit of a longshot and not representative of anything.

Finally, LAFC is missing Vela and Rossi. Seattle Lodeiro. Toronto Pozuelo and Altidore. We're w/o Heber and incoming attacking depth. Martinez is still not fit enough to start for Atlanta. Assuming these players get healthy and fit just watch those teams start piling up wins and points.

Bit of a smash & grab by the South Beach Boys. Two late goals after being down 1-0.

You want ornery?

See the ending of Minnesota- RSL.

i would have reacted the same way. it was uncalled for. he needed an ass whooping like most kids these days. no respect for the game!

That's so silly by literally every single player on that field. I also saw Adrian Health's quote which was basically, "He's got a lot of ego for a player that isn't very good." I love it. The more banter, the better. I love when there's legitimate anger between teams.

The quality of goals this season has really gone up. The fact Medina's goal (4th goal) didn't get nominated just shows you the quality of everything recently. (I watched the 'all goals for week 2' video MLS posted and... mostly 'wow' goals)

...However dafuq is Toye's goal doing there? Much better goals this week than that one.

i think it's stupid that you can't vote without a twitter account. why couldn't they just keep it on MLS as it should be?

Quality? Or just MLS Digital ignoring NYCFC?

None of this matters. Barco is running away with 2/3 of the votes in a 4-way race. Because Atlanta fans come out no matter how you hold the vote. The only way there is a contest is if you have at least 2 of Atlanta, Seattle and Portland, or none of them. And NYCFC fans did not even come out to give Villa GOTW for that midfield goal in Philadelphia when nobody from those teams was in the competition. Someone from Montreal won and it wasn't close IIRC. So why bother nominating NYCFC players? Jesus Medina could score while on fire and juggling chainsaws, and I'm still not confident he would break 4%.

It reduces robo-voting. This definitely was a problem, though there are other fixes.
There's probably some cross-deal between MLS and Twitter.

yes - a slight delay before people modify their bots to vote on twitter

why does nani have a check mark? what does that mean?

definitely true that if an ATL player is in any poll, they will win regardless of the merits.

That means I voted for Nani. I'll never vote Atlanta, and agree Toye's was the weakest entry. So it was Cowell or Nani and I liked the saucy backheel.

it's harder to create bot votes for Twitter. Not impossible, but harder. On the old MLS system I think you just had to use location and IP spoofing to place repeated votes. On Twitter you need to create a separate account for every vote, and Twitter actually polices that sort of pointless manipulation somewhat aggressively. AFAIK nobody has come up with a way to place multiple votes on one Twitter account. I expect you could, but I haven't heard of it.

I voted Cowell because that feint move was an absolute beauty.
