General MLS Discussion

Stuv has a case of the Johnsons…
But seriously, shows you what kind of a player Rudi Diaz is, I don’t know that NYCFC has anyone that could make that happen.

i think he meant to do it, but it's also a bit of luck as well. i think taty could do it if given the opportunity and a little luck (i.e., it's actually on target)

There really is some luck necessary. I remember that after Villa did it for us against Philly he liked it so much he tried it several more times, and I don’t remember it ever working, even on some they were from 20 yards closer than the one he made.

He also tried it the season before he made it and hit the crossbar. Lamps flubbed the rebound. Also against Philly, I think.

Looking at some MLS stats this morning. Nothing deep but for what it’s worth…
NYCFC has 3 of The top 20 Goal scorers right now in the 2021 MLS season. Only other team with more than 1player in top 20 is NE with 2 (in top 7)

Also noticed that 60 % of Zelarayan’s goals are against NYC. Me thinks we need to pull a Tanya Harding on him whenever we play Columbus.

always nice to visit mlssoccer.com and see that the red bulls have lost. then to find out they lost in stoppage time.. *joy*

You're right. I got too distracted with my joy seeing the red bulls lose, I forgot about catching the revs.
We need a word for the weird emotion engendered by situationally rooting for a team you hate, only to have them lose, leaving you not even able to take joy in their failure, which just gives you more reason to hate them, which is satisfying in its own way, but doesn’t make up for the fact that you’re angry they lost, which is itself the world turned upside down.
At least, I need a word for that.

I’m sure the Germans have a word for it

Let’s hope for some good performances from Chicago and Toronto tonight. (And now that I said it they will both lose)

Philly tied with Chicago! While not ideal it's still amazing for us. One point ahead with two games in hands. Win both and we are miles ahead of them.

Meanwhile Toronto currently tying Nashville which is also good for us, though a win for Toronto would obviously be better

miami wins... they're gonna be flying high when we play them.

hopefully we will put them back in their place.
