If there's going to be a DP goalkeeper signing it should only be absolutely massive names. Brian Clough considered the position to be the most important position in a team. When George Graham signed Seaman for Arsenal he already had a top league champion level goalkeeper but he thought Seaman was better. Fans were not happy but ultimately Graham was right. However this is the MLS and surely nobody wants to see a goalkeeper as a designated signing?

I actually wouldn't mind it. I'd love to see a big name GK in goal for us.

Id like to see Ryan meara for sure. Guy can make a spectacular save Plus, real young for a gk. Just needs work on positioning. Maybe McMath, but i rate meara higher.

He was a year younger than me in HS, kid can play. Hes training with the Irish national team right now and hed be a cheap solid option out there. Plus just imagine the "Larry Bird" Tifo's we could do for him. Itd be amazing

Well as cheap as the potential greatest rival will sell/trade for him. I wouldn't rate that as a easy win there.

Besides Meara, some other options in MLS could be Atinella with RSL, Lampson at Columbus and my personal 2nd fav to Ryan Meara, SKC's Andy Gruenebaum. The guy was good as a starter for Crew last few years and his nickname is the Jewish Hammer. Sounds very NYC to me.

Also, if the new Chivas USA totally implode in the off-season (very possible), Dan Kennedy is a great pickup.

I would put big money on just about every backup goalie in MLS being available in the Expansion Draft, so at least one will come from there, guaranteed. Most likely be a backup at NYCFC too, but expect one from there.
