Yeah take a bow. Although if they lose tonight with winning the advanced stats, high probability of the Samuel jackson meme coming on.

That said, it’s a good matchup because Philly actually wants to play with the ball unlike some of those teams that just bunkered.

That last paragraph is a good point. I wonder if they will do that again or change tactics.

wow, just got to reading it! Now i understand why you needed help with all those quotes- really well written! Some of the stuff flew over my head, but for the most part I understood. I do have a question though, which is if you did write that we feel more accustomed to passing in their side of the pitch, then how does that affect when the ball is in our defensive area? Are we worse? Because I feel like we've been a lot worse on the defensive side. Either I missed that in the article or it's just not important?

Those with more tactical acumen then me can comment on how accurate Warshaw is
The analysis of the problem seems reasonable, but the suggested fixes seem problematic.

"Just be tighter and more athletic in midfield" is a huge ask. Would probably be easier for them to hope that our midfield 3, Herrera in particular, is gassed, or is compromised by injury.

"Just make the right decisions as centerbacks" is another huge ask and fraught with risks against someone like Villa.

The recommendations aren't just switches. It's asking players to make massive behavioral adjustments, that take months of training, in the space of 3 days. I'm always worried when I'm confident, but there's nothing in this article in particular that worries me.

My main concern is that Philly makes an actual tactical switch, and that we get forced to play in a way that we aren't familiar with (i.e. what has maligned our form over the last 10 games). Or that Herrera is going to be feeling the lack of game time after having to turn around and be ready for another big contribution after 90 mins and only 3 days of recovery.

Hearing Villa might not okay tonight. Seems to have come down with a bad case of LIGMA this morning.

I heard he’s been conflicted with his interests as he’s going to be called up by the Sugandese National Team.
