A midweek battle against Columbus, who we tied 2-2 previously in June in Zack Steffen's last game with Columbus before transferring to Manchester City then loaned Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Shoot, now that Sands is completely gone for the season. Will we change back to 433 for the remaining games?

I'm gutted for the dude and our system

You could put Ring there (between the CBs) and put Eben playing the 6.

Or...

GMS Heber Taty
Isi maxi parks tin
Callens ring Chanot
Johnson

That’s what I’m talking about!

Even dome has experimented it in training!

But isi is still out and won't be match fit for awhile. Unlikely we'll see him til Oct..

We're gonna see miller and sweat play more. That's something we'll just have to accept.

If we are going to see a lot more of Miller and Sweat we better hope Taty and Air Bear keep scoring bangers because we are going to have to win a lot of 3-2 games.

just watched crew v toronto highlights....

i already started stressing out about miller getting burned by accam or arguiz (think that's his name..) down the wing or being totally forgotten about by mata on the other side..

hopefully we can dominate possession like 80/20 so our defensive duties are minimal.

Our defense has been a bit leaky lately, so it might take 2 or 3 goals to win. Columbus is really bad offensively, though, so hopefully we can take advantage of that.

Start your 3 actual CBs with Ring in front of them. Callens and Tinnerholm could have played this weekend.

Initially, I thought we might use these two games to rotate players so that (almost) everyone got one of the games off. That's harder now with Sands out - midfield was always the spot where we didn't go two deep.

I think we can rotate the front line - except we will need either Heber or Castellanos at striker.

In midfield, Maxi and Ring both need a break - Ring especially since he is on the verge of another Yellow Card suspension. Both would be available off the bench if we are chasing a result.

In the back, I like giving Tinnerholm and Callens another game to get to 100% for the Red Bulls and the season's home stretch. That doesn't leave a lot of options in back, unfortunately.

My concerns with this are as follows. Chanot is grinding out two games in a row, and needs a break. I just don't know how we give it to him before getting through the next two games. Taty is on a yellow-card suspension, so maybe Heber up front instead. Overall, it's a pretty weak defensive look, but maybe we can get strength in numbers.

could have.. but better to have them rested and available for NJ.

I'm glad we were able to give maxi and parks a rest too.

I think if we go to a 4-3-3 formation we can rotate chanot out for a rest. he's also on yellow card risk so I would want him out as well for this reason. We can play Sweat and Ibeagha at center backs with Mata and Miller on the wings. But I think Callens and Tinnerholm both start, unless either is still feeling a lot of discomfort. Whether or not Ofori is ready to play will be a big factor in the lineup too. I hope Dome doesn't play too many starters and gives them a rest, but I think he's going to put out a pretty strong lineup cause he's got the pep mentality of "win every game".
