Apparently with the tarps the fans don't get wet so idk if it really makes a difference for RBA?

what tarps?

Well, we are finally getting that steady Post coverage.

i think we only got the coverage cause it's a headline. but i guess some publicity is better than none.

Anyone know how much parking is at RBA? Can you bring food in?

no idea on parking as it doesn't pertain to me. website says you can bring a gallon size, clear ziploc bag with MODEST (not sure what they mean by this) amount of food and all food must be visible. 20oz bottles of water are also permitted if they are sealed, however, the seal will be broken and cap taken upon entry.

more information is available on the RBA website.

ALSO

Today is Tinnerholm's birthday. can we expect a raging tinnerboom down the right side? yes please.

I honestly wonder if the “boycott” was driven in part by the early kickoff time. It’s a lot easier to boycott a game you weren’t going to be able to attend in the first place.

C'mon man, you're better than this. I've spoken to a number of people who are taking this really seriously. And this has caused all kinds of unwanted headaches for the supporters groups involved, when they would all rather be busting their asses to get to the game. It's fine if you agree or disagree with the decision to boycott, but whatever the result tonight, if fans are trying to question each other's motives then it's guaranteed to end badly.

they just better have some concessions open - need me some beer and grub

and I still think this protest nonsense is absurd - will it change anything? no. will teach the FO a lesson? no.

so many, many years down the line, I'll be able to say I was at the first CCL game whereas others will try and explain what it was they were actually protesting and we'll laugh, and laugh, and laugh

I don't think he's questioning anyone's motives on it.

I think the 6pm start time makes it a bit more convenient to take a harsher stance on it. For instance, I'm sure there are a decent amount of fans that are upset with the front office about playing at RBA but still would have gone in order to support the players, etc. But with the game being at 6pm, probably would be arriving there late, etc., it's a bit more convenient to take a louder stance on this and say you're boycotting the game.

and I totally get that - I'm lucky enough to be in the city already and can dip out of work a little early

but protesting by not going for the other reasons is a different matter

you can disagree with it but i dont think its too out of place. weve already had regular season games out of YS playoff games too, and now international games away from YS, for some its just too much embarrassment now playing at RBA for a home game when the the selling point of the team is that its a city team.

For some people, maybe. You can also argue that it's inconvenient to take a stand and boycott a game that most people weren't bothered with anyway. But there's a pretty clear insinuation behind the mentality of 'they're only striking because they're lazy' and it's not a great look.

if someone isn't going because they're embarrassed, then I'd go as far to say that they're cowards

for? its also embarrassing for the FO ( at least it should be, if they care) but there are people embarrassed/ pissed at it. some go as far as saying that if FO was proactive from day one in 2014 to get wheels moving for stadium then we dont end up in this situation. so in some eyes the FO is still at fault for this.

cowards for being embarrassed about going to a game in RBA or the stadium situation in general - if anyone thought getting a stadium in NYC was going to be quick and easy, was fooling themselves

and when did New Yorkers start becoming embarrassed about anything? own that shit and tell them to fuck off

right and thats why some feel the FO is at fault. even without the CCL there are less people in games and less STH many citing the lack of stadium. so why spend the money for tickets if there is no deal in sight. i think this is just another chapter in the whole stadium saga.

as for the new yorkers ....they are telling to fuck off to the FO/concacaf or whoever they feel like they boycotting. "go to a home game in NJ? fuck off"

I get what you're saying and people are going to do what they want - I just think the Third Rail and the other supporters groups are taking the easy way out - they should support the team, not the FO

i think they be more lenient if this was in CT ( ironically since its farther) but since its RBA then big no no. i guess the "argument" is that if you keep going then FO or others in charge see that there is no need to change anything and keep doing these RBA games since people keep coming.

It's this. I think my initial post came off as more cynical than I meant it to be - which is my fault for not wording it properly. It's not an easy game to attend to begin with. Subconsciously, that makes it easier to boycott. That's all I meant.

I will also say that I think the boycott is a bad idea. A boycott is the nuclear option for a fan base. There are all kinds of other measures that the Third Rail could have taken short of a boycott, and they are things that they haven't yet tried - protest tifo, chants or silence at certain minutes, a petition or public statements. I would have gone with those first.
