Following back to back away matches in New Jersey and Colorado, NYCFC heads home to face Sporting Kansas City on Manhattan Borough Night. It's also the same kickoff time as Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid at MetLife Stadium (so I don't expect this to be our best attended match of the season).

Chanot isn't suspended. Sweat is on 4 yellow cards and did not get one in Colorado, so he should be fine.

I wonder if they will redo the field for us to our usual smaller field? Liverpool and Sporting CP are playing there tomorrow and I would assume one of the requirements of hosting at YS was that it was reconfigured to a large size field instead of our normal cramped dimensions. Also, that the turf be in pristine condition... if they have the same guys who do our turf do the liverpool/sporting game, i'd be fearing injury if i were klopp.

I know in the past they have taken out the mound in order to have full size fields. I wonder if that's the case this time and if so, I hope they keep it that way for our game too. Yankees won't be back til next week.

I think the field was normal size (i.e. with mound intact) the last time Liverpool played at YS. And the field at MetLife when they played last year was abysmal, so if there is a clause about having a pristine field, I don't think it's strictly enforced!

Also lol at the idea that YS turf would ever be pristine.

Watch the highlights for the prior ICC games at Yankee Stadium. It's the same size (maybe even narrower).

Liverpool just played at Fenway park and the field appeared both shorter and narrower than ours. Can't confirm that, but looked it to me.

MLS regulations actually don't let a team change from its normal field size unless notice is given to the other team 72 hours in advance. Now, I guess they could have done that, but I bet they keep our friendly confines.

SKC bleed goals. They have the 4th worst GA per game in the league at 1.71. In xGA per game they are only 10th worst, so either they are exceptionally unlucky or they somehow make it easier to score than normal. In fact they have the third most unfavorable differential between xGD and GD (behind Chicago and Cincinnati).

But having watched some select highlights of actual goals scored against them, their back line and especially centerbacks look like crap. Teams score a lot of goals running right at and past them. Danny Hoesen scored 2 goals on long passes, both from the other side of the midfield line, where he just ran past the CBs, collected the pass and scored. SKC is just terrible on counters. RSL scored on a counter where RSL had 4 men in the box and SKC had 1. LAFC had a 2 on 0. When they have men back Melia gives up long goals or teams still weave right through them. The sequence starting at about 1:21 here is shambolic.

I don't know the why behind any of this, but we have to attack them directly as much as possible whenever we get a turnover.
