so considerate of berhalter not calling up players who are playing for their club team and would actually play vs mex or uruguay ...

wish he'd extend the same consideration toward players who would most definitely sit on the bench and are in the middle of a heated playoff battle with their club.

  • There will be a joint color guard consisting of the NYPD, FDNY, Port Authority Police and Department of Sanitation
  • The Tunnel of Honor, a tradition held at every home match, will be amplified during this match as FDNY and NYPD walk out side-by-side with the players to honor their service
  • First Responders and their families will be recognized as Ford Hero of the Match, Honorary Captain and set off the traditional match starting smoke stacks

there's a chance Mata could be back in time for this game. not sure about the travel involved, but if he had the dedication to the club instead of hanging with his fellow countrymen, he'd be on his butt back to the club this weekend and ready for TFC on wednesday with time to spare to recover from any jet lag or travel woes.

True, but if Mata is back from international duty, he will have to serve the second game of his two-game suspension.

ah right. forgot about that. so it's official that it's a 2 game suspension for yellow card accumulation AND for a red card?

but the sooner he's available to actually play the better.

I haven't seen anything official, but that's how it has worked in the past.

I think the only thing that would change that scenario is if it were somehow decided that the red he received replaced the yellow he had gotten on the original foul. However, I think that is very unlikely even though the yellow was for the foul that occurred immediately prior to the confrontation and head butt. They still seem like separate incidents to me.

The team called it a one game suspension.
But also see my follow up one post later.

Headed to pitchside for this one, LionNYC LionNYC and others any tips to make the most out of pitchside seats (aside from yelling at the ref for illegal restarts and substitutions?)

Get to stadium when gates open at 5:30 PM. Eat at Legends. Head over to Pitchside by 6:10 PM, watch warm ups. That's the bare bones of it.

Altidore didn't play last night. Berhalter didn't call him up, explicitly saying it was so he and Bradley could play for Toronto. He a wasn't listed as questionable, and the MLS Recap of the match doesn't even mention him. Is he hurt, or sick? Are we likely to see him or not?

Hang on. Berhalter didn't call then them up so they could play for Toronto, but he called up SJ to sit on his bench? WTF

Speaking of SJ, so is he back with NYCFC now and can play Wednesday, or with Steffen going back to Fortuna, does SJ go “back” to the national team camp so the nat’l team can have three keepers?

Another way to put it, was ‘releasing’ him for the NYCFC game (SJ was there I saw him in the pregame arrivals) just so he could hang with his team or is he actually back?

Here's the controversial card chart. I have Maxi with 4 cards and playing based on his sub appearance versus Houston. Come at me MLS!

Also, Chanot earned himself a reduction, so only Sweat is in danger and can earn a reaction against Toronto. Isi also earned a reduction vs NE, as he'd been sitting on 4 clean sheets the duration of his injury.
