Home - September 12 - Cincinnati (Postgame)

exactly. can the players finish better? absolutely. But are the players who should be doing the finishing on the field? nope. that's on Ronny.

We have a solid, MLS cup contending team, but Ronny is holding us back and that's what's so frustrating.

Echoing what (many) others have noted, if there are substitutions between 65' and 70' that game ends 3-0 or 4-0. Their goal was the direct result of fatigue.

Also, Deila must really, really dislike Mitrita for him not to make appearances in the past two games. Faults accepted, no one can convince me otherwise that 10 or 15 minutes of Mitrita would not have led to scoring chances against both D.C. and Cincinnati. In a short season, goal differential is more likely to come into play for seeding - a home game as the 2 or 3 seed is preferred to a road game as the 5 or 6 seed.

Yep. Whatever Ronny's issues are with Mitrita, he needs to start playing him. The guy is one of most skilled players. I don't understand the DNP's last two games.

A draw v D.C and escaping with a win v. Cincinnati. Signs are there that something needs to be done to avoid a crisis.

Yeah, I’ve defended him in that position in the past, but last night Ring was shocking as a left winger. Was rarely an outlet, often in the wrong position, and his passing wasn’t good enough.

Good to see ma boy GMS have a good game, got stuck in well, played some good passes, some nice interceptions and transitions and had the assist for Ring. How long is it gonna take before he can play for more than 60-70 minutes without being completely exhausted though

Also, what is it gonna take to see Cacha on the field??? He’s looked good when we’ve seen him and I always feel for him because he makes the best pregame graphics for his social media but rarely sees the field!

gudi played good defense and as a backup left back, that is what i expect him to do. he wasn't much of a threat in the offensive half but that's ok. he served his role well and that's all we can ask of him.

I should proofread before I press lost. Meant that LW was being occupied by Gudi it looked like. Would really like to see a heat map

We’re dominating possession. Teams are blowing two low blocks against us.
And we trot out 3 D Mids.

Sands with a red next game... and Maxi out injured, I have a feeling we see Cacha or Rocha starting. That, or he brings ring back down and starts taty and heber together FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Guarantee we see GMS, gudi and Rocha start next game with otherwise same lineup. Ring at left wing. Gudi as left back and Rocha in the mid for sands. Gary up front like last night after maxi injury and Medina taking up the playmaker role.

We aren't going to see cacha. We aren't going to see taty, isi, or mitri until maybe the 80th minute. There will be more questions asked of him about subs and lineup after the game and again he was just dismiss them.

I'm not sure I agree with that formulation. We were absolutely dominating that game for the first 70 minutes or so. Yes they surged late and Ronny didn't react fast enough, but we were playing some damn good stuff in that first hour-plus, and the game was never in doubt until the last 20 minutes when we stepped off the gas or ran out of gas, whatever it was. It should never have been in doubt, but it was a very good performance for the majority of the game.

Against a cinci team. This wasn't tfc or Columbus or Seattle ... This was cinci. Game should have been 5-0 since cinci didn't park the bus. Of we had actual attackers on the pitch it very well could have been.

We dominated the game in that first half. It was 2-0 through 60 minutes and the game was over. Cincy climbed back into it, and we absolutely should have had more, but the job was done.

And I agree with you that the roster management and selection has been super weird. I'm really not looking forward to seeing Ring as a winger anymore, and I really want to see Mitrita get back on the field. Also want to see Acevedo and ITS get more runs out. But this team is 4-0-1 in its last 5 games, and really should be 5-0-0 with slightly better luck. Despite our issues with him, the coach gets the same credit for this streak as stink he got over the start of the season.

We should be 5 - 0 - 0 in last 5 (as bad as we were finishing the refs did screw us in the D.C. match) So after the next two (Miami, NE) we should absolutely be 6 - 0 -1. Then two opponents (Orlando,TFC)with winning records. Show me something Delia. Earn your paycheck. I want 3 wins and a draw at the least In the next 4 to be convinced this team and coach can compete for the cup.

We're not playing Miami. Our next 3 games are at NE, vs TOR, vs CIN. The NYCFC app isn't removing the previously-scheduled games, hence the confusion.
