Either Heber and taty need to start playing together or Heber needs to sit til he works on his finishing and touch. Both have been pretty horrible and not up to his standard set last year.

GMS is a stalwart in Ronny's starting xi and I see him there again vs Toronto. But there has to be a point where Gary needs a rest, no? Maybe that'll be when we see a taty Heber combo but probably won't. Ronny seems to think of taty and Heber as being straight swaps for each other. Another sign of his inability to understand his players, their relationships, and potential.

Ronny is managing on novice while successful teams like the crew are being managed at pro levels. The quality and determination of our guys are getting us through the season, but Ronny's ineptitude handicaps us severely.

I'm preparing myself for an embarrassing game on Wednesday. As much as I'd like to dominate the TFC again, I don't think it's going to happen without maxi pulling the strings.

Thankfully we'll have sands back, so maybe he can keep pozuelo and piatti under control.

Not that a coach should be the reason to be excited about a team but thinking of Ronny at the helm drains me of anything approaching excitement. More savvy soccer minds may be able to find some savvy approach Ronny is taking but I don’t see anything being built here. This team looks to be treading water and relying on the defense to keep the game close. Is Sands the MVP of this team?

What is going on that Heber, Mitrita and Taty have less goals combined than Ring? That seems completely bonkers. It must indicate a major malfunction in the “system”.

Not at all picking on either of you but does this sort of sentiment remind anyone besides me of how "we" felt about Domè in the beginning? And by the time he left we all loved him and he was a great coach. Ronny is pretty new to the team still, and this season is so far from normal, that I'm completely willing to write off this entire year if necessary. Do I want the team to win? Sure. Of course. But I'm a whole year from Ronny Out probably. I mean, what happens if the team wins four and a row and are completely back in it? Are we all Ronny fans then? That's kind of what happened with Domè; it took a long while but he got things going the way he wanted eventually and "became" a really good coach for the team. By my thinking last year didn't count at all for Ronny and this year's totally a mess regardless of who's coaching. I'm good until maybe this time next year.

Dome had some sort of enthusiasm in his press conferences.
Dome knew how to use subs (vieira also didn't, let's be fair to ronny on that one)
Dome started winning and we gave him a few games of skepticism until we were like "ooo nice"

Ronny has given us a few games since that skepticism and still hasn't convinced people... That's really where I'm at on it, and to be honest i think it looks strikingly similar to the De Boer situation.

I can understand your perspective but this is nothing like dome. We are winning most of our games and have yet to lose since the Florida tournament but my views on Ronny have not changed. If anything, my views of his ineptitude in modern tactics and his inability to understand his players have been solidified.

Dome struggled at the beginning but there was a clear foundation being worked on. There was something building that a savvy fan would notice. There's nothing like that with Ronny. What foundation could be building around a career dmid playing at the wing and being our leading scorer? That's all kinds of wrong. With Maxi out now, our guys will have to struggle that much more to get results while dealing with a manager that has no tactical awareness to make the right subs at the right times or change formations if necessary.

This season may be a wash cause of the circumstances but Ronny has shown his cards. There's nothing more to see. Full season or not. We are gonna struggle to win the cup until we find a more qualified manager. There's a reason the majority of the fanbase still want Ronny out despite going undefeated in 6 games.

This. With Dome what he was doing made sense but the results weren’t coming. Ronny doesn’t seem to understand where his players should play and how to attack. They are undefeated in six but it has not been that different from losing four at the beginning, just fewer mistakes and a little better finishing.

Also, Anton Tinnerholm is good at soccer.

The lack of Taty is the most perplexing of the off Ronnie decisions to me. If Mitri doesn't play due to his effort levels on defense, and GMS gets time because of them, what's the excuse for benching Taty a guy that works just as hard as GMS. If it's confusing for us as fans I can only imagine how maddening it is for the players.

So just watched Ronny's preview.. he was asked about playing taty and Heber together and be said he has played double striker before and we lost both games. But he's not against playing 2 strikers again in maybe a 4-4-2. He said he would like to play them together but it's about finding balance.

Those were his words. He's still unable to find balance with a true best xi of our best players. He simply doesn't understand our players. Plain and simple.

He also said he really prefers to play ring further up the field just because he wants to have parks and sands in the midfield and thinks ring is so good at getting around the pitch. Fair enough. But he also decreases our attack power (despite being our leading scorer).

The frustrating season continues...

Yeah I don't understand why Taty and Heber can't play together in a 4-2-3-1. I'm not at the point where I think Ronny is a bad coach, but he sure is stubborn as hell.

Surely Ring isn't a striker, and not particularly good winger either, but your logic leads to the thought, that if he'd been played deeper down the field, our better attacking players would have scored more than Ring now has. This is not meant as a straw man argument, but rather that Ring gives a strong option in any position (perhaps not as a goalie), and moving him anywhere will mean sacrificing something elsewhere. I wonder how "a team of Alex Rings" would really look like... My personal opinion is that he should play as a DM instead of Parks, whose concentration hasn't been the best recently.

I too would like to see ring play instead of parks. Parks has not given us much either direction on the pitch. At least ring would give us defense.

That being said.. we need a playmaker. We simply don't have one without maxi. Mitri has good vision but he's unable to hold the ball. Medina is average at best in both these categories. The club needs a playmaker and without Maxi, we are severely handicapped. I had hopes Parks would have stepped up to this role based on his playing last year, but he's been kind of disappointing this season with so many bad giveaways and unforced errors.

I agree we need a playmaker but I don't understand why the playmaking has to come from the CAM position when we don't have Maxi. It just seems like Ronnie is overly rigid as others have pointed out. If he wants to stick with the 4-3-3 let Mitiri line up at LW and have him float inside to fill the playmaking role. Then instead of forcing Ring at LW have Ring and Parks play as true box to box CMs and Sands as a lone holding CDM. Parks and Ring can push forward and fill the rest of the creator void. Ring is more than capable of charging into the box and scoring in the CM and that puts him back in the middle where he can player the destroyer role that he excels at. Ring's versatility is impressive and he has scored goals from the LW spot but his movement and passing from the LW is lacking and it's hurting the production of the other forwards.

Ronnie's thinking just appears to be overly linear, Maxi is out so who will play the Maxi role, I guess it's Medina. I have 3 CDM/CM type players I need to get in the line up guess one goes at LW. Like come on man. From his comments early in the season about players needing to understand their role and stay in it his system just feels so rigid. Really makes me miss the dynamic approach of Dome with flowing changes only constrained by a general playing and movement philosophy. Ronnie's approach provides no adaptability both in game to counter the other team or between games to deal with player availability.

Lineup I'd like to see:
Mitri - Heber - Taty
Cacha - Jesus - Sands
Mata - Chanot - Callens - Tinnerholm

-edit-
to clarify, I mean Cacha and Sands behind Jesus in a 4-2-1-3 formation.

That lineup doesn’t have Alex Ring high up the field.

cacha and sands as a double pivot is a spicy lineup.

Yeah, where it could be either cacha or ring pairing up with sands in that pivot. Having that and then the fullbacks go forwards, you could almost have 4 in the back just with the two DM's and the two CB's moving wider a tiny bit, giving the wing backs more freedom. Sand's distribution over the line isn't the best, therefore allowing him to have a cacha / wing back / jesus in front of him to help distribute would also be great. Then, of course, you have the link-up to the front 3...

That would be my ideal lineup with the current team we have. (I do usually when I play Football Manager prefer a 4-2-3-1, which is basically the same thing as a 4-2-1-3, lets be honest.)

The ringleader would like a word with you..

Maxi, Gideon, tavvon confirmed to be out. Looks like mata will return this match. I'm guessing as a second half sub to slowly work his way back in. But who knows.

TFC always makes me nervous. Hope we thrash them before they thrash us..

Just about every team makes me nervous right now. There’s 11 teams that have scored twice as many goals as us.
There’s only 3 teams that have scored less goals than us. The only thing keeping us even remotely in the playoff race is our defense and quality of recent opponents.
