What will the traffic conditions be tomorrow? If Atlanta are staying at the NYCFC sponsored team hotel, that's the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central. I remember Orlando got to Yankee Stadium late as the game was on the St. Patrick's Day parade. Maybe NYCFC can call in some favors and have the northbound FDR Drive shut down ;)

Will they take the subway to the game?

If available, I'd really like to see Joe Scally in the 11, or at least the 18.

concussions are scary. hopefully there are no long term effects and damage. I think we should go ahead and rest Parks rather than risk him making his hammy strain even worse.

That would mean we'd probably see Rocha or Ofori in place of Parks, which would be a more defensive midfield than usual. Maybe Dome will go with Medina or Isi in the midfield to keep it somewhat offensive. The biggest loss will be the height and ability to win 50/50 balls out of the air and a 2nd key distributor/possessor.

Would love to see Scally make the start, but really doubt that'll happen considering he hasn't had any real minutes this season at all and coming back from injury. More than likely we'll see Miller at the right back position, which isn't a very good matchup vs a speedy meram and hyndman.

Buckle up folks for the Miller and Ofori show. You’ll need Ofori to sit deep and help destroy after Miller gets burned over and over by Gressel

you mean by Meram. Gressel will be taking the acres of space Mata gives him over and over to send in crosses toward Viallba, who is likely to take Josef's place. I am definitely NOT looking forward to the frustration of seeing Miller get burned time and time again... or Mata giving up all that space and slow jogging back to position after being caught up the field. I get it, wing backs use a lot of energy, but damn Mata work on your stamina dude!

Whoever takes Parks place in the lineup will need to work extra hard to give Maxi the space to do his thing. We can't be giving up possession cheaply in the middle third or we will get hammered. If we keep the ball 65-70%, we'll win. if Nagbe and Remedi control the midfield, we're doomed.

I expect we will see Ofori sit deeper in the midfield. If Miller is at RB, he will tend to stay home more, which might cover up for his deficiencies.

The bigger question is whether Dome will want to have the option to play 3 in the back. With Sands out, that means either Ring sits as a deep CM who slides in to the back line at times, or we go with a proper 3-in-the-back with (L to R) Callens - Chanot - Ibheaga.

The problem with playing Ring as part of the back three is that it prevents him from playing farther up the pitch unless we make a permanent move to a 4-3-3. The problem with using three proper CBs is that we can't make a tactical switch without a substitution.

It is UN week, that will def do some damage to travel times in Midtown and east side...

I don't mind Chapman as much now that Herrera is no longer on the team.

Ha!

I still cringe when I see his name. He was so bad in that Chicago match, and his blown calls when Herrera got hurt and on the free kick by Houston still haunt me. After that Chicago match, my son actually wrote a school paper about him entitled "Bad Ref".

Still, he officiated our first game in Atlanta last season - the one where we drew 2-2, and he was more than fair, including properly calling the penalty that Berget drew and waiving off Nagbe's goal for interference by Martinez.

Not sure if he has done any since then.

i swear past few games ive seen ring give those away or just give bad passes. he has to cut back on that too.

i expected tinnerholm out. i thought there was some protocol for this and they all had to be a out a week. i thought mata had this in the start of the year ( or maybe sweat) and they had to take the week off and then test them again to see if they fit.

like i said toss up game so well see, hope heber can help with some heroics.

Injury Report
OUT

  • James Sands (collarbone)
  • Anton Tinnerholm (concussion)
QUESTIONABLE

  • Keaton Parks (hamstring)

I was concerned Parks would be out multiple games, even weeks, with a hammy (like Heber) so if he can be rested Wednesday and ready for the weekend that would be amazing. I hope Tinny can be back for the weekend, but concussions suck so better they play it safe with him.

Ring gives away cheap passes a lot. I notice it more this year than any other year. Not sure if that's cause he's taking on a more offensive role or what. But he gives the ball away cheaply pretty often and from my perspective, it seems like it's just simply trying to play a ball casually rather than focused and sharp. It's not like he's doing it while trying to thread the needle or anything. Often times it's just a simple square or lay off. He's not the only one guilty of this though and as a whole, I think we tend to get very sloppy very quickly at times.

That Yellow on Chanot in stoppage time for time wasting was huge. Now Johnson, Chanot, Ring, & Taty are all in danger. Good news is we win this one and it probably doesn't matter too much afterwards.

Chapman has reffed 3 matches for us this season. All wins @DCU (4 cards), CIN (2 cards), and CLB (1 card).

i'm not even that mad if any of them pick up a yellow this game.. let them have a rest. they've all worked pretty damn hard and deserve it. except for SJ. he picked up pretty stupid yellows and should be playing every game. i like stuver, but he's just simply not as good. and if sands comes back while stuver is in goal, my fear would be another injury to sands. he'll probably break a hip this time.

if we win vs ATL and PHL loses or draws SJ (lower chances since SJ is short key attackers), we lock in #1. Only thing left would be potentially going after the supporters shield, but it will likely be clinched by LAFC since the rest of their schedule is pretty easy.

I have a feeling this is going to be a really scrappy game.
