Home - September 26 - Cincinnati (Postgame)

You think Coach Ron learned something today?

I really want to see more minutes from Cacha. He seems to move quickly, has good instincts of where to go and makes really NICE passes.

I would honestly have liked to say Gray come out when at like 60 or 70 minutes to give him some minutes!

Oh yes. Could he come in for Chanot? Chanot looked like he was running on fumes at the end. Although he did find some fuel for that burst into the box looking for a return pass late in the game.

I feel like the hipster hype on Cacha is approaching Fetch The Bolt Cutters levels. This kid is good, no doubt. But we're going to ignore everything else going on and focus on why he's a 10? Based on what?

(Niche post alert)

Yeah, I noticed that. I'd have taken chanot off.

Separate note,
Here's the postmatch.
Does Ronny ever have a smile?

Didn't watch live, but watched on DVR.

A win against Cincinnati isn't great.

We are picking up so many yellow card. Callens is out for the next match (at Miami).

Great performance. I just love what Mitrita brings. His skill set is really pretty unique on this team, and it's easy to see why they paid so much for him last year. When he gets up to full speed, he's just so quick and elusive. That first goal was a thing of beauty. And how about the pass by Sands on the third goal?

Nice to see the team play that way. Been a long time coming. Hopefully we can get on a little run -- the next three games are against MIA, DC, and NE -- all games we should do well in before the schedule gets much harder the rest of the way.

This forum should coach the team by committee and pay Rony to stay away. It was exactly what most people here have been asking for (Mitrita as a 10 instead of Medina, and Isi on the wing instead of GMS) what allowed the team to play a more creative style, with one-twos and incisive passing instead of predictable crosses to nobody, and that allowed us to score against a clearly inferior opponent.

On another note, Parks is at risk of being Mata redux, brings great things to the team but has at least 2 brain farts per game that generate unnecessary danger to SJ. Why, oh why?

Rony is reminding me more and more of PV and Dome. Good coaches each invested in developing their own style of play and imprinting it on the team. A period of learning curve without what we would consider good results and at the end there is a team that plays attractive soccer and gets results. Ring at LW doesnt make a lot sense at first glance except his willingness to demonstrate Rony's defensive system (and probably a belief that Parks or Sands or both will be gone).

Other than not converting chances I thought we played just as well Wednesday as we did tonight. There are stupid mistakes but the team is very rarely broken down defensively -- we very often win the ball far upfield creating chances and now that the team is learning the system more individual flair is showing through.

I watch a lot of MLS and even without Maxi, without Heber and without Ring, this team with this system can compete with any other team in the league and win.

I want my team to play attractive soccer that fans of any league can appreciate -- given the fact we have not won any trophies I dont mind that Rony is more defensive minded than PV or Dome. I am enjoying watching this team again.

Gray is injured with an ankle injury. out 4-6 weeks.

also - seems that there's uncertainty in whether or not callens will go play for Peru or not, which would mean we'd be without him for a good bunch of games since we're playing 2 a week now

I hope this game cements ITS and Mitri as starters. ITS looks a bit rusty but with some more min I think he can find his form.

I don't think Callens will play for Peru, fingers crossed. He's been rarely called up, and center back is probably the deepest position right now for the national team in Peru.

One thing he does well is draw fouls in dangerous areas. A bit like Maxi with the low profile and can shield the ball well enticing the defender to reach and foul. It was refreshing to see the guys having some fun out there and playing with a bit of flair.
He did some very Maxi like things this game. Passing and shot selection deserve commendation this year too.

MLS wrote to the Peru Federation on Friday refusing to release players for international duty during the next window-- it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
