International Champions Cup | 2018

This year's iteration is an embarrassment. Stillitano should be ashamed of himself.

Take a look at the Bayern roster - the one with no German World Cup players.

NYC-native Tim Weah started up top for PSG vs Bayern today. Scored a nice goal, too.

He’s still on at 60’ (I’m behind the live stream, which should be over).

And Bayern equalizes. 1-1 now.

Ah, the "shop window plus Mahrez" squad.

Nah, most of those players aren't even a "shop window XI". They're a "oh snap, FIFA rules say that due to the World Cup, we aren't allowed to bring any first teamers on tour with us! Who do we have at the training ground? Quick, grab a load of 17 year olds! XI"

Was surprised at how “healthy” they all looked. Fat and medium skilled is no way to go through life, son.

ETA: and I should know.

Dortmund or Liverpool... Who to support for this game... *dies*
I love you both, but I want Dortmund to do well sooooo sorry, Liverpool for today... ^^"

Did anyone watch the Man City match that Harrison started? Curious to know how he looked and where he played. The lineup chart on ESPN had him playing defensive mid in a 4-1-4-1, which sounds... interesting.

He was probably City’s best player, but that’s not saying much.

He looked fitter than anyone else, for sure. He played pretty well, definitely wasn’t a DM. But the team City played didn’t lend itself to evaluating anyone properly.

I would highly recommend not watching it unless you like horror porn, in which case, just skip to any time Zevchenko got faced off with Pulisic. Probably set the poor guy back a full year in Pep’s eyes.

Brought a whole new level to the phrase “had the beating of his man”.

When it comes to the actual games, the ICC is shit and has been shit. It's early preseason for all the teams, so the only deductions are which U19-U21 players may get a few minutes as a sub here or there. It's mostly an experience booster for travel and such for the younger kids.

The ICC is decent for the fans to possibly meet players and coaches behind the scenes or view trainings. I was able to meet Rafinha and Lahm 3 years ago at Paulaner in the Lower East side. Lahm sang and Rafinha danced on a table for us. That was cool.

Got it.

From what little I've seen of these matches, the entertainment comes from listening to Ian Darke struggle to act like anything important is going on. If you suspect he secretly doesn't give a shit, just take a look at his Twitter feed.

Are you going on Wednesday?

It's amazing! Him and the other guy just start talking about other random stuff every now and then and you can hear it in his voice when he remembers "oh right i'm commentating" and switched back real quick. Ian Darke's great

Undecided. But I probably will. I think I may go down to the Anfield Wrap live show tomorrow night, either way. Longtime subscriber and I’d like to meet the guys that do the pod.

Dude is the Gold Standard. When he was first hired, my reaction was "why do we need an Englishman to call our national team's games!" Then I heard him, and realized "oh, because he is fucking great."
