I would prefer if none of Bravo, Allen, Harrison or TMac served as a holding midfielder next year.

I think the one guy on the roster who could excel as Pirlo's partner is Max Chanot. But if you move him there, you lose him at CB.

So the question would be, for the money allotted, can you get a better CB or a better holding player?

My Question is Did the 3rd Rail people have any clue when they threw that big party?? How strange they just had that party and then this announcement. Wow !!

Show us the Irao-ancials, Rox! #scandal

He was our player of the year last season, no doubt. We tried so many combinations, but none of them clicked until we put him at DM, and he allowed the midfield to finally look like the sum of its parts.

Favourite memory of him is his debut, though. He's worn #15 his entire career except for here, so when the boards went up for Tommy Mac to get substituted he nearly made it halfway across the pitch before he realized he wasn't actually being subbed off. It was this bizarrely adorable insight into just another guy being awkward on his first day at a new job.

I honestly think you go for a better holding player, just because of the height and aerial skills Chanot brings to the table. I would really like to keep that at CB. Along with the fact that he does already have some experience with Brillant and some of the other defenders, and the french speaking connection with Brillant. I know some of that would transfer to holding mid a bit as well.

But, as you point out, Chanot provides us the flexibility to go after one or the other. If there isn't a decent holding mid option out there available, then we could go out and grab another CB and move Chanot into that role.

No way Chanot is moved to CDM. He was brought in to be a play out of the back CB. Makes no sense to switch him to a position he has never played before when we could simply sign a CDM and not create a gap at CB.
Well, we've signed 40 or so players so far, and haven't managed to sign a Cdm yet, so you may be slightly oversimplifying it. But I get your point generally. I'll just believe we can sign a CDM when I see it.

Iraola was a great player and seemed like a genuinely good guy.

He will be missed.

As a Roma fan, this calls for some DeRossi

regardless of whether or not you think we have sign a cdm or not, our most expensive defensive player is not going to be playing cdm next season and its not a good idea to consider him for that role.

How many caps would Iraola have received if he was an American?

Probably would have been playing in Trinidad - maybe even have saved that disaster.
