Watch our boy in action at CONCACAF u20 championships on Univision Deportes or Facebook live on CONCACAF page. Match is at 3:30

ETA: he's on the bench, which isn't a surprise, really. Stiff competition and Tab likes to save pacy players for sub roles. And Tab is a dumbass coach. So yeah. That's as good an explanation as I can give.

We were Tabbed. Holy shit does that guy need to be fired. If I were Vieira, I'd have Lewis on the next flight back. He's learning nothing there and sitting behind what I certainly hope are clearly inferior players. This Sabbi guy is starting because he plays in 2nd div Spain. He's dog shit.

Ebobisse is a garbage finisher. Only decent showings were EPB and Glad.

Oh, and Lewis didn't play at all. Almost forgot to point that out.

My Twitter feed (non NYCFC people) were very unhappy with the lineup today. Said it was overly defensive with no scoring punch.

We just need to be top two in the group, we can destroy St Kitts and Haiti, so we are probably going to qualify, but we are not going to get to the tournament final as a date with Mexico before the finals seems inevitable.

Can someone tell me what Tab has done to deserve such an important job? I know Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan has issues with Richie Williams. Should both of them be gone?

Who was in charge when Jozy and Mix didn't qualify for the Olympic S?

If we lose to Haiti we won't go the the final stage. In the final stage, you have to come top 2 in your group of 3 to qualify for the World Cup.

I'm almost rooting for a loss to Haiti. Catalyst to cut Ramos and to get Lewis back to club.

Hopefully after that pathetic 11 v 10 performance for 70+ minutes Lewis gets into the starting lineup and stays there. How can a USA team have no attacking ideas?

Totally agree, that shit was difficult to watch. We were 100% direct/predictable the entire game, uncreative, undisciplined, uninspired and lazy as hell on defense in transition. To me all those things, especially with young players point directly to terrible coaching. Lewis can't get back fast enough.

Yes. They both need to go, along with Sunil.

mix and Jozy weren't the same age group I don't think. Iirc, Mix's year we were knocked out with a flukish goal centering around Brek Shea being a fucking idiot. Anyway, I am fairly sure Rongen was the coach and he did a far better job than anyone since.

Also, WTF is up the withe play style, it was so direct. Push the ball up field, shitty hope and a prayer cross to no one in the box. Isn't that the old school US soccer approach we have been working for decades to get away from? No attempt to break the defense down. The whole thing felt like we've made no progress at all.

That may have been Caleb Porter
Yep. My bad. Ulrich is right. But it was a fluky knockout.

Rongen must have been the u20 coach at that time. In any event, I'd take him because he has actual ideas. If you ever listen to Tab talk, he's not operating with an abundance of intellect. Great player; undeserving, unqualified, incompetent coach. He literally has zero qualifications for his position and holds the job simply because he was a BFD for US soccer when US soccer wasn't a BFD.

Hell, I was hoping he'd have improved, but I had my doubts when BlueCityRadio interviewed Lewis, and Lewis described Tab in a way that was overly reminiscent of Klinnsman. "He just wants us to go out and work hard to win the ball back and express ourselves."

Whenever I'm king of the world, occupational beheadings will occur swiftly and regularly until such empty platitudes are eradicated from the face of God's green earth. I cringed then, I cringed more today when I realized we have a player we spent significantly for who is listening to this bullshit and thinking that he is receiving coaching. Poor kid. I hope PV can undo the shit he will have picked up by the time he's back with a real team.

See above. Tab gives no instruction because he doesn't even have any idea what those instructions should be. It's cycle after cycle where our players underperform relative to their club records, and this dude is sitting comfortably with a nice chair, fat check and fuck all for brains without even a hint of pressure from his ultimate boss.

Out with the lot of them. Bring Lewis home. Let's go try to win something.

Even though I am dreading watching this team play again (and probably won't if Lewis isn't playing), its in the Club's best interest if the U20s make it to the WC and Lewis has a chance to shine there.

BTW I would play Sands over de la torre in a heartbeat. Sands would make that team better,

I think you're probably right, but don't discount what Tab can do to screw it up.

I think I'm with you on skipping out unless Lewis is in the lineup.

As for Sands though, that performance for a us youth club is another argument for getting him into our first team training. He can still get the US matches without having to be subjected to YNT "coaching" on a daily basis.

Interesting results from an MLS poll. I personally don't think Lewis will be ROY based on the amount of playing time he will receive compared to other picks.
