Kreis Officially Out At NYCFC

If anyone still thinks we are still a farm team for MCFC and CFG doesn't care you're a looney. Clearly the expectation is winning.
If they do care to this extent then that's great for us, the supporters. Can't hate ownership that demands success.

we'll see who replaces him. if it's vieira...

I see hyperbole is alive and well on the forum.

I just thought I would peek my head in to see the reaction to the news... Did not expect tones of insurrection and languid ballads.

It was the right choice, in my opinion, and that comes from a "give him time" supporter. Club management absolutely made mistakes throughout and I imagine there will be consequences there, as well.

I think he had a tough job this year. I really do.

But he was paid multiples of what the next highest coach was paid in this league. He was paid multiples because this was a difficult job - that's why they get the big bucks so to speak.

Unfortunately, it didn't pan out. I can only hope that this also means we have seen the last of some of these players - Kwame, Ned, Chris, Jeb, Andrew. All really good guys it seems - but they didn't perform either.

Get rid of reyna too.

And what kind of fan of this team gives a shit what the rest of the league says about this? They would rather lose with an "authentic" MLS coach than see us win. Fuck them, fuck this wasted season. Let the axe continue to swing.

"Prior to the start of the season, it was agreed with the coaching team that securing of a playoff place was an appropriate target for this year. A win rate of less than one in three games and a points tally which was the second lowest in the league is clearly not in line with the targets that were agreed. "

There you have it. That's what I'm talking about. No reason why this team couldn't make the playoffs. Kreis didn't perform based on what was agreed to before the season. Goodbye!
So every year we don't make the playoffs we have to fire the coach?

Only three since the takeover in 2008.

To put it another way, across their various teams, CFG have run teams for a cumulative 11 full seasons (not including part-seasons). Kreis is only the third manager they've ever sacked.

Anyway, very interesting decision. I was honestly sure he'd be given another off-season to try to build a new team, but it seems that they were conscious of just how poor the team has played. I'm sure that he would've been kept if the losses hadn't been so insipid.

Onward and upwards, I suppose.

Oh well.
Hopefully they hire someone respectable and quickly, otherwise i'm really concerned about the way the club is going.

My season tickets may be on sale soon!

They explain later that they felt our direction was not positive, as well. It would be different if we narrowly missed the playoffs after a slow start but a rampant surge from the middle of the season on. We were hit or miss at best throughout and our trend line flatlined in their (and my) estimation.

Yes. Why not? Maybe they are still trying to figure out how to operate in MLS, but by all accounts, they paid him 3x more than just about anyone else in the league to win games. Yes, they hamstrung him, but he took the money, and with it, the pressure. He didn't come through.

They want to win every year. They're willing to pay the freight for that to happen, so if this means we fire coaches who don't make the playoffs, then I can understand that.

And yet no mention from CFG how they fucked Kreis from day 1 with the Lampard hijacking. How different would the season have turned out with Lampard in the starting lineup from game 1 rather than game 26?

If it's viera the expectation will still be the same. Make the playoffs. If they worded this any differently I might be a bit disappointed. But they didn't. Just straight up said, we expected to win, we didn't. There was an understanding he would bring winning football, he didn't. Goodbye.
