La Liga 20/21

Messi said goodbye to Suarez and complained about Barcelona.
"Although I have been mentally prepared, I walked into the locker room today and I have truly realized this. It is so difficult to not be able to get along with you day and night. We will all miss you. For so many years, we will drink horses together. Dai Cha, have dinner together, have dinner together... so many unforgettable pasts, the time we all have together."
"It's really weird to see that you will be wearing the jerseys of other teams, let alone against you. You should have received the farewell you deserve: as one of the most important players in Barcelona history, whether as an individual , It’s still an important achievement for the team. It’s not to send you away like this, but it’s already here, I think everything has long been commonplace for me."
"I wish you all the best, I love you, I love you, and see you not far again, my friend."

Could you please keep this inside a relevant thread instead of making it its own thread? thanks. (i.e. this is clearly la liga)

im surprised there hasn't been any malicious bot chaos before. Even a 5 post minimum would be easy to script for, post 5x, then spam threads like crazy.

i guess. but idk if the spammers are thinking that far ahead...? might just be a "Stick the bot on forums using this template"

See I thought so too, but this bot-or-no-bot also has replied in some threads, based on the very-limited-post-number. NYCFC_Dan NYCFC_Dan should there maybe be an x-post(like 5)-before-can-create-threads on the forum?
I went ahead and banned. Idk what the persons intentions are but I gave them the benefit of the doubt for a little while. They didn’t post any spam links. I told LionNYC LionNYC that I assumed it was someone practicing their English writing skills. They were a legit account but the off topic stuff and lack of actual interaction with other members hasn’t benefited the forums. We have very good spam prevention. Currently have 800 accounts in the approval queue. If they trigger on another website using our program then they automatically get refused here. Plus there’s a Q&A that has to be answered in order to bypass the approval. Might be time to update the question.

So I know it's still early but it's looking like we might actually get a non Real/Barca winner this year? Atletico and Sociedad are 6 points clear of Real and Barca can only be the same number behind if they win games in hand.

Exactly. I don’t mind paying a streaming fee to watch soccer. I mind paying 4 streaming fees to watch soccer - especially when the party charging the streaming fee had it on its free channels the year before.
I might finally get into La Liga if ESPN covers it the way NBC used to (cover EPL). Hopefully they don't just put up international feeds of games and call it coverage, I want quality studio programming easily accessible!

(Edited for clarification of league's)

Agreed. That is the weakness in the ESPN coverage of soccer. There is no commitment to a single league like NBC has to the EPL.

And it affects their ratings. Look at the list below. Dortmund - Leipzig was a terrific match between teams at the top of the table. It deserved a much larger audience. But because ESPN doesn't provide in-depth, focused coverage of the Bundesliga, the game got lost in the shuffle.

Yea its going to be a big ask for ESPN with them also getting NHL so they have to hype that too in addition to the other properties they have. Interestingly enough on ESPN Deportes they talk la liga constantly and cover it pretty well now that they dont have the rights. When they do get the rights im sure they will cover it even more in depth.

Agreed. Let's hope they don't jack up the price. I read they were already going to increase the price soon anyway... maybe La Liga is the reason?
I think it is $6 now for new subscribers, but who knows how they account for bundlers. Either way, at $6 it takes like 2.5m subscribers to cover La Liga expenses (quick aging brain math) obviously not accounting from traditional tv revenue. $5/mo was never going to last with all that expensive content.
Either way, we know all these streaming services launch at attractive prices before scaling back on content and/or raising prices. Cable will survive, albeit in a diminished state, because the platform and value will retain enough customers once the streaming market matures.
