It's time for a new mattress. I'm going to get a queen. What are peoples recommendations? Has anyone ordered any of the online (Purple, Casper) ones? Any secrets (like buying certain time of year)
Also going to get a new frame, so any tips on that?

I'm a big fan of value, so i won't be purchasing some high end dual temp polar bear fur stuff. Our bedroom was poorly designed and has no outlet near our bed, so nothing plug in.

I own a Leesa (Sapira model) and I'm quite happy with it. I lack sufficient information to compare it to anything else. FWIW, I bought it because I have a friend who worked in the foam industry and has contacts at Dow and Carpenter, both foam manufacturers. They told him Leesa uses the best materials. That was about 20 months ago. It's worked out for me. I understand that third hand info about component materials might not be the best data, but it's what I've got.

All those mail order mattresses offer free trials. If you plan it right you can try them all out and sleep on a free mattress for over a year.

The important thing is to figure out what your best fit is. What I mean is do you like firm, soft or ultra plush? Do you sleep on your side or back or front? Etc etc. There are lots of questions. The best way to find out is to go some research on recommendations for your personal sleeping habits. Normally I'd say you'd go to a mattress store and try some out for research but it's not possible now.

I say try the major brands. Make sure you read the fine print about how and when to return the trial mattress. But leesa, Casper, nectar, etc all offer at least 2 months free trial. Based on your personal preferences, pick one that meets your needs and budget and go with that. Good luck!

I also have a Leesa. Love it. I'd guess it's been 4-5 years. We added a pretty thick mattress topper. The topper has lost its form, but the Leesa underneath still seems like new. Probably need to order a new topper now. But that's a much lower reinvest than having to buy another mattress.

This is a timely issue for me too. I have a wonderful Serta pillowtop. Absolute top of the line. Slept on it at a friend’s place on a visit to Barcelona and immediately came home and bought one. Problem is that was in 2001.

So, with the mattress revolution, what’s the best option? Do I go with one of the new companies? Do I try to replicate the pillowtop in one product or split it up?

I tried the new companies. If you got a mattress you love, call Serta with the name and they will tell you the new model that is most similar. That’s what I did with sealy.

Gotham Gator Gotham Gator I love my mattress and will advocate for it all day with someone who doesn't know what to get. But this. Totally this. Why reinvent when you have something that works that well?

Duxiana. My dad has one. I got one. It's an investment. I sleep so well on it. Though it doesn't stop me from losing sleep worrying about NYCFC.

I’ve never spent a ton of money on a mattress until now. I ordered a Tempur Pedic Luxe Adapt King. It gets delivered to my new place September 1st. I still feel uncomfortable about how much I spent on it but I struggle with sleep.

I’ll report back.

I recently got the Stern’s and Foster Lux estate plush with euro top. Love it.

Went through this on my own at the beginning of the year. We ended up going with Nectar. It’s been good. I don’t sleep for shit anyway, but it’s comfortable to lie on.

You use a down topper on top of memory foam? My wife said we couldn’t do that. I don’t know why. I’m just reporting and abiding. My topper cost nearly as much as the new mattress, iirc. Would love to get it out and about again. Citing you, btw.

Forget the major brands, if you want something handmade in NYC, Charles Beckley is the place to go. Neither the most expensive nor the cheapest, but definitely the best product/value and an authentically local product. A good night's sleep is guaranteed!
