Mix Gone?

How far down the food chain has one dropped when Ballouchy makes the trip and Mix didn't?

The smart move is to sell him. He is a great player that played well here most the time but didn't live up to some lofty expectations. He has definitely been struggling. We could get a decent fee for him, or a very good player if we were to trade in MLS.

I'm thinking of asking him on Snapchat what's up...

What the policy on wearing jerseys of players that left? 50% of my NYCFC jerseys are Mix.

I don't think anyone actually has a beef with Mix do they? Great guy, and gave it his all every time he suited up. Maybe just a little overpaid. IMO, a Mix jersey if he leaves is all good unless its a messy exit.

Don't think anyone dislikes Mix. And he's been a class act here and represented the team in a classy manner (Wish we could say that for some other players). But his cap hit is tremendous and he's not even starting. DP's only count $250k vs the cap. So Mix counts the same vs the cap as Pirlo, Villa, and Lamps combined! Not his fault he got paid so well. But if PV doesn't deem him a good fit as a starter (whether it's lack of talent or wrong skill set is irrelevant), then we need to cut bait ASAP. Because we can't field a competitive team with 21% of our cap (for 20 players) paid to one player who's healthy and can't crack our starting lineup.

Mix is a highly skilled player, but his skillset requires the right system and the right mix (npi) of players in order to thrive. When he was signed, we had pretty much a clean slate and he was the kind of guy that would have fit into a Jason Kreis system. Once we brought in Pirlo, we were never going to get maximum production out of Mix.
It's kind of frustrating, because I think Mix is probably the 4th most skilled player on the team (behind the DP's), not seeing him even on the bench and seeing Mikey Lopez keep getting minutes is just so hard to justify.
It appears the most value we can get out of Mix right now would be whatever we can get from a trade/sale.

Maybe this is right. But I hate that i feel like he never got a good shake.

But when Pirlo and Lampard are gone after this year/next year don't we want Mix on our roster?

No, we don't. Not for $760,000. We can find a much better replacement for that price. Now if Mix said he'd take a significant paycut...

I think he'd take a pay cut than play for another team in MLS, well except LA.

With MLS being so secretive about contract details, it's tough to know what the contract details are, but i'm pretty sure Pirlo is under contract for next season (or at least has an option, which he might not take) and Mix is not.

Mix does not hit the cap for $760,000 because he is not a DP and the max cap hit I believe is like $475,000. So we are using various mechanisms like TAM/GAM/DonBucks and such to pay his salary down. Still, combining everything he is very expensive.
However, if Pirlo and Lampard were not around, I would love to build a midfield to suit Mix. We have never seen Mix being Mix, because he has either been played out of position and/or in a shitty midfield setup. If given the right opportunity, I believe Mix would prove to be worth every penny.

I like Mix but he just isnt what we need at the moment, the same with Poku. We can get alot for them though so this is why i think they will be traded as we can get a serious upgrade on a position we are less stacked in.

I've said this elsewhere. I like Mix a lot, but it might be the better thing for both sides if he were to move on. I have to think there is a Championship League team or League One team that would love to have him and where he will get real time, and if that comes to pass they will immediately become my 2nd favorite side.

He is a solid, technically skilled guy. He was a good choice to bring in, but as noted, our central midfield is really crowded, and he's not good enough on defense to justify throwing him out there with Frank and Andrea.

DPs hit the cap at about $450 each, but your point is still well taken. If we moved Pirlo, we'd only free up $450k to spend on other players. If we move Mix, it frees up all $760K to spend elsewhere.
