MLS Fantasy Round 18

Lots of things to note here:

If you didn't use your first half wildcard it's too late.
You now have a brand new second half wildcard.
Picks are due Wednesday evening.
This round covers only the games Wednesday night.
The following Round 19 gives us even less time to make picks, but there will be unlimited transfers without using your wildcard. Last year the 2 weeks with unlimited transfers came when there were a lot of byes. This year they both come after a lot of byes. Either ways creates challenges, but I think last year's system was a bit easier to manage.

There will be 3 chances to completely rebuild your team this half of the season. Two scheduled plus the wildcard. I hope everyone been paying attention to squad value, because that's going to count a lot those weeks.

Coincidentally, this morning I happened to check the rules page myself. I knew there was an unlimited transfer week coming up, but I didn't know when.

I kind of screwed myself a few weeks back when NJ had their DGW. I brought in Robles, Grella and BWP (already had Kljestan as a starter) figuring they would pile up points vs RSL, Columbus and NYCFC. These guys have killed me and there really wasn't an opportunity for me to dump them without taking a points hit.

I should (hopefully) be able to get back on track after this round.

I have 2 people I need to transfer for this week (Villa and TMac) but that doesn't include Valeri because of injury. Don't see any updated status on rotowire. Don't want to take 4 point hit if I don't have to, what do folks think?

That's a tough one to call. Tougher yet because they play late Wednesday night, so the wait until the last minute option is off the table. I transferred him out last round and I don't plan on bringing him back until after this one.

I hate taking -4's, but sometime there's no choice. That's why I finagled my bench in such a way that RJ Allen is the autosub if needed. A low salaried guy who will give you 2,3, or 4 points beats a -4 every time.

Timbs blog says he'll be back relatively soon, which to me does not mean this week.

Yes def wait, but if no word I would take the -4 if you can't put him on the bench and bring in someone who will play. If you can do that, then the only real risk is another player on your team gets unexpectedly hurt or is a DNP for some reason and you have no sub to come in. I am a bit more willing to take the extra transfer penalty this year than last year because your average player scores more points. Last year a player who didn't have a goal or assist (or a clean sheet as a defender) had a hard time scoring more than 3 points in a game. Now they often get 4-6.

Another consideration for everyone is that even though this is not a DGW in Fantasy, it is for every one of these teams in rea life. They all played this weekend and they all play next weekend. Somey guys who usually start might get a rest.

Yeah, I'm terrified Feilhaber doesn't play next game, I picked him up specifically for this week with so many others on bye. This week will be a bloodbath of 0's. I wonder how many teams will blow their wildcard right away.

That forces me to take a -4 this week.

I'm riding:

GK: Robles.

DF: Zimmerman, Moor, Glad (In for Sjoberg).

MF: Grella, Piatti, Castillo, Kljestan.

FW: BWP, Giovinco (C...In for Villa), Movsisyan (In for Plata)

I should be ok in one H2H, because I'm playing a guy in the 20th position.

The other will be dicey. He's in 3rd place and will play his wild card or be forced to take a -16. We'll more than likely have a lot of common players on our rosters, so that -4 I took could be fatal.
