Ronny is Coach of the Week. Medina First team. Shradi second.

Medina first team is quite a shock. Outside of the goal (which was very well taken) he was very, very poor.

I suspect the thought process on these lineups goes like this:
  1. start with teams and games they think warrant recognition
  2. was there a clean sheet? If yes, consider GK and CBs, and in rare cases DMs, if not
  3. choose (1) goal scorers, (2) multiple or super snazzy assist generators, and (3) very occasionally maestro types who neither score nor have an assist
  4. if you need to rank goals by people who scored only once, do so by looking at scoring plays
  5. pick coach of the week based on any in-game change that is followed by obvious result
We won on the road against LAFC which MLS digital rates high. Plus it was a comeback which creates easy narrative flow, so we were destined to have at least one rep on the team and probably more. Ronny made a big move -- 4 subs at once! -- and we scored twice soon after with the subs getting 2 assists and 1 goal, so he gets COTW. We did not win because of defense, so the voters looked at our goals. Medina's goal looks more impressive than Shradi's so Medina is First Team and Shradi second. Assists by Tinny and Morales not shiny enough to break through goal scoring priority.

Yeah, and even Shradi on second team when he only played 34 minutes or whatever it was seems a bit of a stretch. Though I thought he was fantastic in those minutes, even aside from the goal. A huge difference IMO when he's playing a true RW vs the 10 that he played the previous two matches (though I do think he looked pretty decent there last week against Columbus, which really surprised me).

The goal he had was a bit too easy (not taking anything away from him on this, he finished it well). I can't believe nobody was marking him. Not even before the corner was kicked.

Agree on all points.
On further note on Medina's first team placement, don't overlook that he was credited with an MLS/hockey assist on Shradi's goal. One goal plus one assist in that game = First Team.

Are you guys forgetting the Ponzi scheme and SUM money these ownership groups take in?

Is there a place other than Univision to watch a replay of this match? I just tried and it seems a good deal of the broadcast had tech. Issues.

not sure if this is better here or in his player thread.. feel free to move it.

nice little highlight reel of malte vs LAFC. i didn't get to enjoy this game too much cause the twitter stream was horrendous. but from the looks of it, malte impressed considering he was marking either Vela or Rossi. I'm pretty sure Gudi would have been toasted had he been in the lineup.
