Holy shit, the Chi-Sea match. Ref gives a phantom penalty. Frei saves the attempt. Ref says frei encroached, despite him being as locked to the line as I've ever seen a keeper on a pk.

Let's start saving clips of how shit the refs are. We'll match the stadium thread in no time.

so these refs are not refs full time correct? are they employed by MLS or is USSF the ones assigning them? i wonder if you have to do certain games in NASL,USL,maybe PDL/NPSL before you go to MLS. going to assume no.

The Professional Referee Organization (PRO) assigns refs for MLS, USL and NASL. There are probably more knowledgeable folks on this topic but the following article provides useful background on referee professional development and assignment in the US:

Stoica made a bit of a mess at the end of the Whitecaps and DC United game. Don't really understand how the ref can go back and award a PK once the play is over.

Worth watching the last few minutes just to be reminded of the angry in-your-face yelling from Andrew Jacobson

Geiger missed an obvious handball on Chad Marshall a week after awarding one to us...

And he is the guy us soccer thinks is the best ref in the league

Watching the ORL / CHI game and that was the worst red card ever. When I am pissed about a call against ORL it must be a shitty shitty call. Wasn't even close, barely a foul.

That call was so embarrassingly bad. Just another reason for the talent to avoid this league. Man, just awful.

wasnt this the same guy that gave us crappy calls against orlando at home?

also im going to assume its because he went studs up and made contact? even though it seemed like he didnt know vincent was there till he turned

Yeah, didn't look like he knew the guy was there, but if studs up, then that's automatic. From the replay they showed, it looked like a yellow, but maybe from another angle it'd show the studs.

And I don't remember which game Unkel called for us but he was a disaster and his bullshit calls blatantly lost the game for us. I believe Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan used a phallic name for him.

Unkel got the second Red correct. That was a blatant studs up kick to the back of the leg.

Orlando down to 9 with 22min left

First red was studs into the ankle, but the player didn't know the opponent was there because he was looking behind at the flight of the ball. Don't know if that technically makes a difference, but it should.

Second one looked a lot worse than it was, I think. Both are yellows for me in the end.

total red for second one...he just went for it probably mad about first one ...tried to get cheeky with it but intention was clear at least to me. cant be kicking like that and made no effort to bring that leg back
