I wonder what the luxury & suite seats ratio of BoC Stadium is going to be compared to all seats in the stadium...
My first thoughts. I'd want to see the inside but it looks like a good 25% of the stadium will be luxury boxes.

Any updated completion dates?

I think I see a pool behind the bar there in the LA ones.

Some possibility we see some of the LA derby games at the new Inglewood stadium I would think.

Is that not going to be fully enclosed?

I'm no architect, but a glass ceiling without air conditioning in southern California seems like a pretty bad idea.

It won't be a "glass" ceiling... It'll look like it but it will have special coating and blah, blah, blah.

I'm sure they're well aware of the situation.

I guess the silver-lining for every year we wait is that our stadium will likely be larger and more of a palace as the league matures and we need to one-up everyone else.

OCSC's stadium started at 19.5k with ideas to be expandable to 25k and now they are just going straight to 25k but really that won't be nearly enough. They have no choice because to make it any larger they'll need to completely go back to the drawing board on the stadium design and that would delay it years. So, in like 10 or 15 years, they'll need to completely overhaul it or build an entirely new stadium.

Hopefully we skip that awkward phase and just go straight to a 40k+ stadium.

Do you really think 40k in attendance is attainable/sustainable?

It's only a two year sample but we are trending in the wrong direction average NYCFC home game attendance:

2015 - 29,016
2016 - 27,196

You could argue the drop was to be expected as we didn't have the opening season hype and that giant inaugural game crowd. On the other hand the team was much better this year and made the playoffs so that should have helped the numbers. It will be interesting to see where we fall at the end of 2017, but over all I'd say we are a long way from steady 40K attendance numbers.

The optics would look terrible if you built a 40k stadium and it's regularly 50-75% filled. Look at how bad Yankee Stadium looks for Yankees games now.

Empty seats cost money to build yet earn no revenue. My guess is that we won't be building over our median attendance, which is slightly lower than our average, to guarantee a 50%+ sellout rate at a minimum.

Don't be surprised if it's a 25k seater. I also expect lots and lots of luxury boxes.

I think so.

It all depends on your time table on when you think this thing will be built. I'm hopeful that they'll get approval for construction in the next 5 years.

I think the league in 5 years time will be a very different place with new, bigger TV contracts, new and bigger uniform contracts, and new and bigger players developed both home and abroad ect.

You look at the league from 5 years ago and compare it to today and it's night and day. I think the growth will only accelerate as you add clubs like NYCFC, LAFC, and hopefully soon Miami and, apparently, Atlanta.

Please also remember we're playing in a baseball field. It's hurting our attendance.

Hey, everybody, listen to me.... I've said this many times in the past and the laws of construction (materials & labor) haven't changed.... it is far more cost effective to build something the correct way the first time rather than going back to renovate/expand later. I'm sure NYCFC will have an expansion plan in place, but they're not going to dink around with expanding from 25k to 30k to then something bigger farther down the road. For the time and effort that they're putting into this bitch to get it from talking points to something real, I cannot see them jumping off with less than 30k and more likely 35k. In NYC, you get one chance on a construction site.

And in case anybody forgot, that dip in attendance was because we had a self-righteous coach that led the team to finish the season outside of the playoffs while playing the ugliest of soccer. No wonder 2k people said adios. I would be surprised if we don't rebound this next year - new DP, a 2nd place finish/playoffs, and a watchable product that Vieira instituted.
