MLS Week 13 - 2019

this is not counting our galaxy win?
Yeah, this is interesting, I think he has his count wrong. In looking at the MLS site, I've got:
  • 5/26 - San Jose over TFC
  • 5/25 - Colorado over Columbus
  • 5/25 - Portland over Philly
  • 5/24 - LAFC over Montreal
  • 5/24 - RSL over Atlanta
  • 5/24 - LAG over Orlando
  • 5/22 - NJRB and Vancouver draw
  • 5/18 - Houston over DCU
  • 5/18 - Minnesota over Columbus
  • 5/11 - Chicago over Minnesota
  • 5/11 - New England over San Jose
  • 5/11 - LAFC over Columbus
  • 5/11 - NYCFC over LAG
  • 5/11 - NJRB over FC Dallas
That's the last 14 matches between Eastern conference teams and Western conference teams going through the schedule on MLSSoccer.com. It's possible I've missed one, but I don't think I have as I've double-checked.

That there gets us to a record for the West of 9 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses. If you cut it off at 5/18, it's 8 wins, 1 draw, and 0 losses.

thing is this crap only gets brought up when east just happens to have a bad week, just to push this narrative. last year i barely heard anything on this when RB and ATL were killing everyone

You missed more than one:
5/18 Philly/Seattle draw.
5/18 San Jose over Chicago
5/18 RSL over TFC
5/15 Seattle over Orlando
5/15 Atlanta over Vancouver

I'll stop there because that's 14 games. Goff went 13 games to exclude the Atlanta win over Vancouver, which is technically true but borderline meaningful because it started just 30 minutes before Seattle and Orlando. If you include the Atlanta win, which then covers all interconference games in the last 2 weeks, then let me quote myself from a post I made in this thread the same night as Goff's tweet:

The East went 0-6-1 against the West this week. In the last 2 weeks the East has 1 win, 11 losses, and 3 draws against the West. NYCFC played none of those games. 10 of them were played in the West, but that's a lot of good results for NYC. Nine more interconference games on tap next week with some more favorable matchups for the East.

But my post had a typo on the number of draws and should have read "In the last 2 weeks the East has 1 win, 11 losses, and 2 draws against the West." With that correction Goff and I are in agreement, he just cuts off one game before I do to document the winless streak. And our win over the Galaxy was a whole week earlier. There have been a boatload of games the last 2 weeks, including lots of IC games.

NYCFC has a lot of IC games remaining. So far the team is 1-0-2 against the West (1H2A) with draws against LAFC and Minnesota, and the LAG win. In the remaining games we are home to Seattle, Portland, SKC, Houston and San Jose; Away to Colorado, RSL, Vancouver and Dallas.

Oh wow, I must have hit the scroll button more than once so then missed the second part of 5/18 games into 5/12.

Oops
