MLS Week 20 - 2018

Thank you, Seattle! A win would have been great, but I'll take it being one point behind ATL.

And we’re still 1 point ahead in the CCL race with a match in hand. Anytime ATL gives up points at home it’s a good thing. Especially the way we play at YS. Now we have to figure out how to get road points like they do. But that’s what our new pretty pineapple is for? Right?

Anyone else watch DC last night?

They looked pretty good. Rooney actually looked like he was enjoying himself on the field for the first time...since Ferguson retired?

When you see DC’s lineup now, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that they go on a nice little run. There is some talent there. Of course, they still have Olsen leading them, so there’s a hard ceiling.

I watched a little just to check out their digs. Looked nicer than I expected with all the cutbacks from the original deisgn. Agree that Rooney looked good, It think he’s basically free to choose to play wherever/however he wants and sat himself in the false 9 spot. And those hair implants look very natural. Not sure their run will come from tactics/talent. But because almost all their remaining matches are at home.

So, of course we get them twice in the last six games of the season.

Wasn't the handball fixed with VAR? Or is this a second one? That's how Seattle got their goal. It was a PK off a handball caught by VAR.
Not that handball.

And Crew should have ended the match with 8 players, frankly.

Mensah should’ve been gone twice at least. Grella should have gotten a straight red.

Several missed yellows as well.

MLS officiating is a complete joke.

This could probably be posted in the mls refs are shittastic thread, but just leaving these here...no cards or penalties called here at all.

Yeah, Seattle was the team with 10 players on the field when the game ended. But I see Atlanta should have had only 9. LGP should have had a straight red card early. Then Martinez should have been sent off when he head butted Marshall.

Here's all of Seattle's takes: https://www.reddit.com/r/SoundersFC/comments/8z6o0j/all_the_bullshit_from_the_atl_game/

Super hot take:
If you started a Isi and Lewis on the wings, the Rooney who played last night would actually lead us to more goals than having Villa as our #9.

I realize all that’s wrong and impractical with that, but I think it might actually be true.

And I literally despise Wayne Rooney. He won’t get you the solo goals or anything, but it would be fun to see how we looked with a physical 9 with some class who could hold the ball up and let our young guys run off him.

Despite being a fat asshole, Rooney is kind of Berget and Villa rolled into one. I’d be curious to see that.

(And no, I wouldn’t trade Villa for him. But I’ve never been one who considered any calf sacred, so more than willing to play around and talk about what that might look like.)

The DisCo meeting this week is going to be an interesting one. All that tomfoolery in Atlanta and the questionable antics in our game are just the start.

I would expect Martinez to sit a game. I wonder if Sosa's red card from our game will get an extra penalty.

The Grella situation will be interesting too. He wasn't actually the guy who fouled Medina, although he did get the yellow. The foul was actually on Luis Argudo. Might be worth a DisCo review for serious foul play, but I think it was kind of borderline.

Dome as coach
Callens & Johnson as Starters
Medina & Jonah as Subs

Why am I worried about all this respect?

Why am I worried about the lack of respect?

Tinnerholm was the best fantasy player of the week. Medina was the best midfielder of the week. Moralez second. One made the bench. One didn't make it.

Sure, there's supposed to be team diversity. But we went 2-0-0 this MLS week, outscoring opponents 5-0. Show me a better DGW this season by another team.
