MLS Week 22 - 2018

Apologies on the false narrative, but you grabbed only a small amount of info to support your post. They have 2games on Montreal, but Montreal still has the points, so there are three teams legitimately ahead of Toronto occupying two possible spots.

And I was going to post about Toronto’s murderers row of a schedule until I saw mgarbowski mgarbowski beat me to it. That schedule alone is enough reason to count them out - they have far too many matches against the three best teams in the east and a few against the better teams in the West. And Mark was slightly wrong, they do have one more match against NE who plays very well on turf. Also grouped into their schedule are matches for the Canada cup and some other competition, Campeones Cup, vs a Mexican team, Tigres.

I think they have their work cut out for them even if they play at their 2017 level.
Having their work cut out for them (which I completely agree they do) vs counting them out are two completely different things. I err on the side of not counting out the side that set records last year and still has Giovinco, especially when the teams that they need to catch (NE, Philly, Montreal), don't really seem like the type to confidently stay ahead of TFC.

I forgot about the Campeones Cup. If I were TFC I’d roll out my C- team for that one. So dumb to play it mid-season (or even at all).
Toronto's priorities need to be the Canada Cup, then MLS, then this game. But I like the idea of this game, and of playing it now. Toronto is in an unusually extreme case of post-championship hangover.

Any championship team should be involved in a race or 2 of some form or another towards the end of the season. It should be played as the last pre-season game, not towards the end of a season when all the races heat up. If we were inovlved, I’d be calling for us to play all our U-20s.

Zlatan has been great. He can kick ass without going 100%. Should keep him rested and injury free. Have to admit I'm a bit jealous...but he wouldn't have been good for us.

Zlatan playing in the MLS Cup (in front of 75k in Atlanta?) would be as close to must watch tv as this league could get. I hope that we can at least spoil the Atlanta part.

Idk. Zlatan in NYC in front of 55,000 sounds pretty sweet to me. We filled it for our first match ever. I think we can fill it for the MLS Cup vs Zlatan & LA.

Galaxy D is still terrible though.

Yes, it would be incredible. But I suspect that MLS would prefer the Atlanta narrative to the baseball stadium one.

You know, everyone's talking about how our road trip was far (from Orlando to Seattle), but

man i even played into the conspiracy theory with all those penalties they were being given in early part of season, that MLS was working its magic to get them to the CCL instead of us. who knows come playoff time if certain call goes their way.

Should "top scorer" be counted as "mvp"? because that's what mlssoccer.com analysts are claiming... Just because Martinez can score shit-tons of goals, in my opinion, doesn't make him mvp- to me it's a player that if is not in a gameday squad, the team would flounder. To me, this season that's Armenteros or Maxi or Almiron. Not Martinez.

Armenteros for MVP?????

Armenteros for MVP?????
Not saying he is MVP, just saying in my opinion he'd be a better candidate than Martinez. bc Goalscoring != MVP to me. Villa did not win MVP because he scored lots of goals. Valeri did not win because he scored lots of goals. Giovinco... No, because they helped the team out in other ways as well. Martinez? Not so much.

Samuel Armenteros is a better candidate than the guy who is likely to smash the single season goals scored record?

Okay, maybe Armenteros was a bad example, but you get what I mean. Aubameyang scored 31 in 16/17. Did that make him mvp-caliber? no.
I don't believe that scoring lots of goals should make you an mvp.
