MLS Week 29 - 2019

Fourth place in the East is now up in the air as TOR and DCU are tied at 45 and RBNJ has 44. This is really important as there is a strong chance that if NYCFC finishes first, they will end up playing the fourth seed - which we probably don’t want to be Toronto.

Why they don’t reseed after the first round is nuts to me. If there is an upset in the 2/3 matches then that team has a much easier path. Imagine NYCFC finishes first and then has to play a Toronto (winner of 4/5), which has barnstormed into the playoffs, versus Atlanta which wins its first round game and then gets to play the Revs who upset Philly.

Yes, I didn't see RBNJ sneaking back up to challenge those two for fourth place, but they've done it. They are only 1 point back and have the tiebreaker. They also have DCU coming into Red Bull Arena in the next-to-last game.

Which raises the question of which of those three teams would you rather face in a knockout game? For me, the order goes - from most to least desirable: DCU, RBNJ, TOR.

DCU —> RBNJ —> TOR. I actually agree with Doyle that Toronto is a bad matchup for us; they have a lot of quality and Jozy seems to either score or flop for penalties against us. RBNJ also challenges with the press, but the game would be at Citi Field, not RBA. NYCFC seems to match up well and could play 3 at the back (Sands) to negate Rooney against DCU.

I prefer Toronto which is an older team with the most travel on short rest. Don’t want RBNJ’s young legs who are training at home with no travel on the short turnaround.

Fuck yeah! Keep it up quakes!

J. Martinez subbed and then stretchered out of the stadium.
Penso sucks and he was chased off the field:

Wondo's red was while he was on the bench. Plus the SJ coach was sent off not too long before Atlanta's 2nd goal.

Penso has always been a huge card clown. At our midweek game vs TFC, I kept screaming at the guys not to approach him cause I knew he was gonna start flashing yellow cards. He's by far the worst ref when it comes to handing out cards as he seems to do it for no reason and specifically against particular teams. Espinoza's send off was huge for this game. SJ got robbed by Penso. Absolutely ridiculous.

Players don’t seem to respect him and how how he can’t control a match.

When I was scrolling up Twitter to find the game, I was really mad and pissed off that Atlanta won, scoring goals in the 90+ minutes. God damn. Should have been a tie to help us get 1st in the East.

TFC taking it to LAFC... drop more points LAFC... DO IT... muwahaha...

if this result stands they'll be at 64 and if we win vs. ATL, we'll be at 60 with 3 games left for each.

Maybe we pull a red bulls and steel the shield at the last moment? How amazing would that be?
