Not a lot of action this week.
  • Eastern Conference (First Round Bye - Atlanta, NJ; Clinched - NYC, Philly; Eliminated - Orlando, Toronto, Chicago)
    • New England is eliminated with a loss/draw against Orlando
  • Western Conference (Clinched - FC Dallas, SKC, LAFC; Eliminated - Minnesota, Houston, Colorado, San Jose)
    • FC Dallas clinches a first round bye with a win at DCU and an LAFC loss to Houston
    • FC Dallas clinches a home game with a win/draw at DCU

For whom do we root in the DC - Dallas game?
Depends if you want DC in the playoffs or not. I don't think there's any chance we finish above Dallas on points this season.

Therefore, if you would rather face Montreal vs DC, then root for Dallas. If you'd rather face DC, then root for DC.

The interesting thing here is I think if we finish 3rd, I'd rather face Montreal over DC. If we were to slip to 4th, I think I'd rather have DC take the 6th spot, because I think they could have a decent shot at advancing and perhaps knocking off Atlanta or NJ in the conference semi-finals.

With the Accam injury I’m wagering we hold onto 3. Epecially with Philly playing NJ and us (at home) to finish out. I can only wish MTL grabs the 6. But i don’t see it happening. DCU is too hot. We may get run out of their building without Yangel in our midfield and our current form.

I don't think Accam is very important to the Union. He only played in 4 of their last 9 games. Since Game 7, he has only played 70 or more minutes 3 times, and 60 or more minutes 5 times. He is a forward with 1 goal and 0 assists all season.

I'm rooting for Dallas also, for all the reasons you state. An additional reason is that if DC wins the next 2 games before they play us, they will be in a good position, but still will not have secured a playoff spot. But - under those conditions - a win over us would clinch for them, which they would love to do at home (their final game is away) and make Decision Day a no-worry game for them. So no matter what that game is basically a must win for them. I'd rather have them bloodied.

But I'm also not afraid of them at Yankee Stadium should it come to that.

DCU gets a late goal to beat Dallas 1-0. Now officially in sixth place still with a game in hand on Montreal.

That sound you hear is the MLS talking heads lining up to join the DCU hype train and pick DCU over NYCFC in the knockout round.

Missed that New England could be eliminated with a DCU win. So they are now out.
