#MLSisBack - July 14 - Orlando (Postgame)

Basically what I've been saying, too. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as that still means we can end top of the east if we have consistency with Deila once they catch on. Maybe not this year, but we'll definitely make the playoffs if they catch on.

I say this knowing that I'm the same type of character - slow starter. When I start learning something I need more time to learn it, but once I know it, it's "full steam ahead". Give it some time, I'm a full supporter of giving Deila the season.

The idea they should fire the coach after four games of a season the likes of which has never been seen before is completely ridiculous. Of course he gets the season. And even if they fall flat on their faces, he should start next season as well because of how weird this season was. I think for evaluating, we should all basically throw this season out the window. There's very little we are going to glean from a season like this, especially if the team doesn't make it out of the group and has to go another 6-8 weeks before playing another competitive game.

Yeah, you should be telling me to fuck off.
That's like you opening a door for me and I walk out and get hit by an NYCFC truck. Then me telling you to fuck off for opening the door. It's not your fault heber left his fitness and scoring boots in costa rica, tati hits his head on nothing, when medina has a good game the team as a whole are collectively fucked, the defense decided to take a mental vacay to the Bahamas, the announcers couldnt figure out who the substitutes were so they gave up and proceeded to say the wrong names for every other player, and ronny forgot he got hired to coach soccer. Its not your fault because you opened the door. Fuck trucks.

lmaooooooooo
he was making a joke.

But, regarding the commentators, wasn't it the worst?! They couldn't even give names to anyone, but orlando's players they knew like the back of their hands! meh.

for all you know, there could have been some invisible force that sprung from the defender's hand like a chakra blast, smacking taty right in the face and sending him to the ground. don't judge what you cannot understand!

I have a lot of hesitancies with Deila at the moment and do not have the highest hopes of what he is beginning to build.

BUT.....let's not chalk this up to a lost season quite yet (if there is a remainder of the season). For reference, please see this particular thread after we got waxed at TFC early last season (also without Maxi). Things looked just as lost during that one.

I told myself after the game I wasn't going to post anything encouraging for a change because losing 3-1 to that Orlando team is pretty ridiculous. There are only 2 players on that team who I think are really good, Mueller and Nani. They treated Mueller like an average MLS player and got burned.

Medina had a sweet goal and has been generally playing like a contributing starter.
I thought we looked much more dangerous once Mitri was on the field.
I don't blame Delia for trying different looks and making subs at halftime when his gameplan isnt working. Hopefully they figure out how to win without Maxi soon.
If we beat expansion Miami and win our next game we will have more points after 6 games than we did last season (a lot of teams are significantly better than last year though and I dont see this team being as successful as last year).

The perspective I think is important, which many may disagree with, is that NYCFC earned 13 points from playing against teams with 10 men. (Red cards are the 9’, 29’, 33’, 61,70’) Every game we won was by 1 goal with the exception if only earning a draw against MTL.
We also won against a Seattle B team at home and we’re given some questionable penalty kicks in the home game against Phi. That’s why I say the point total and success of last years team is deceptive and partly explains of why we are witnessing the dumpster fire that is NYCFC this season.
Edit - realized Gotham Gator Gotham Gator made this point after posting

Would be curious to normalize that against other teams.

Also, red cards aren't mostly handed out by luck but can be the result of errors forced by good play.
