Movies

I'm EXCITE for next year

Not sure if they're all going to blow ppl away but there's quite a few I'll be watching.

Saw Rogue One last night! Really enjoyed it! I really thought the plot was very interesting and kinda followed a little bit like the 6th one in regards to plot.

Will be going to see Passengers with my dad and brother-in-law on the 27th. I reckon it's going to be ridiculously contrived, but I generally enjoy over-the-top films.

Doesn't seem like a "lad" movie to me. You'll probably be rolling your eyes at the lovey dovey stuff.

It definitely has a romantic subplot to it, but if the trailers are to be believed it'll be no more pervasive than the subplots in Gravity, or Interstellar, or Arrival, and I liked all of them as "guy films" just fine.

If the trailers aren't to be believed then they've done an awful job of marketing the film because they've really made it look like 5 parts suspense, 4 parts action and 1 part lovey dovey. At any rate my mum and sister saw the trailer and were both instantly turned off and refused to come to see it. They're both going to go to see a genuine chick flick instead.

I'm not a fan of 3D and thus I'm disappointed that the only versions of Rogue One is IMAX 3D, 3D, and Standard.

Haven't seen it but the reviews which are mostly negative seem to indicate that there is a creepy stalker or even borderline rapey element to what they try to pass off as "lovey dovey" stuff.

I am surprised to be writing this, but Sing was remarkably good. Like, if-my-daughter-asked-to-go-a-second-time-I'd-happily-do-it good.

were they able to fit all those character storylines from the trailers into the movie? the trailers make it look like you could have made a whole 12 hour-long episode series.
It was well tied together. No significant dangling story lines.

I really like

Comet- starting Justin Long
Sing Street
Taxi Driver
Warriors
Love and Other Drugs
Chocolat (ita french so calm yourself)

Also Rogue One was quite good. I like the interpertation of the force

One of the best (funniest and most heart warming) movies I've ever seen was the French film Les Intouchables.

It's in that category of top 10 movies I wish I had never seen so that I could still experience them for the first time.

Agreed. The writing really made the audience feel for Chocolat and captures turn of the century france so damn well

Just come out from seeing it. I know why it got bad reviews but it was far more because it didn't try anything new. The "lovey dovey" element wasn't at all 'rapey' - that's just overdramatising - it just involved a dickish element to it: one which any sane person watching the film would surely never make but honestly I can picture a guy who's been stuck in space with no real social interaction to keep him in a healthy state of mind making. Won't say any more as obviously anyone who might watch should get that chance to see it fresh.

I would say the film was OK - no more, no less. It had exactly the kind of action stuff you'd expect if you saw the trailers but broke no real barriers so you'll probably feel at the end like it could've done more. That said, what it has is written well and the CGI is pretty good. I have a high tolerance for bad films so I really was quite happy but if you want to go to the cinema just once and want to watch a truly great film then see Rogue One instead.
