Necaxa Postmatch

I will take literally nothing out of this game in terms of evaluations. Half the guys on the field had absolutely no interest in competing tonight (Mena was the biggest contributor to that, Mix, pretty much the entire backline), so it's really hard to say anything about this match. Glad everyone's healthy and got some exercise, which seemed to be all they wanted out of this one.

If we were eliminated for the playoffs by now, Eirik Johansen would deserve to start the final two matches. But we qualified for the playoffs and Vieira isn't going to tinker with his goalies. But Eirik looked considerably better than Saunders in every single way.

I think Mikey played like he wants to start again (I'm not sure if he will) he showed versatility by going to RB.
I think Johansen made a case for getting more playing time in the future (Even grabbing the #1 GK spot maybe?)
Mena lost us the game and didn't have any motivation to actually play (who are out starting CB's vs DC?)
Khiry and Villa were on an island and didn't have a chance to do much in this game.
Mix didn't do nearly enough to bring his NYCFC career back to life (especially after he got denied on his header early on)
Martinez will probably be gone next year, good for one extra international spot and 135k in cap space.
Parker deserves a chance here, can't argue with cheap American talent (listed at 50k on transfermarkt) especially since the hammerheads are going under and we need someone to fill in the spot Mullins left behind.
Glad Iraola didn't play, we need our lynchpin healthy and rested
Glad there were no injuries

We would likely get him on a free transfer and his salary wouldn't be counted against the senior team squad. Or if it would be it would be probably $60K or less.

We'll see what Vieira does in the offseason.

This was a dumbass game. I'm sorry I watched.

If Lopez starts a game short of him being the only eligible option, I may jump out a window. He's a shit player who's butt hole tightens up so much under pressure, you could shove a dime up his ass and he spit out 9 cents change.

This game shit on all the why isn't mix playing theories. It's obviously due to some personal issue PV has with him. He's still easily one of our best 18.

Again, this match was stupid. If you disagree, I wish I could be like you and live in a fantasy world where Occam's razor didn't apply. Blissful ignorance seems a delight based on how many people here excel at calling a shit sandwich a fine dining experience.

And again, let it be known I take responsibility for being a bad fan and turning my tv to this spectacle. I am guilty and ashamed.

ETA: major point is no one got hurt. Fuck the FO for scheduling it. They don't care as much about winning as they proclaim. I mean that to say it's obviously not the absolute priority it should be.

Ask yourself this: you think PV went to the FO and asked for a stupid friendly two flights away against a second class Mexican club to keep his players ready to play? If he only played backups, maybe I buy. But you know the FO contracted minutes for DV and Pirlo. So ridiculous. Shameful.

Who cares if this game was a marketing ploy? Why is that such a big deal? Sure, it could have risked injury, but the way the players competed on the field made it crystal clear what the goal of the game was for Vieira: To get a run in and stay match-fit during the international break.

Yes, of course this was a marketing ploy by the club. That's the main reason why this game was played.

I fail to see why that's such a big awful deal.

Because we have playoffs coming up and we risked our best players. Why is that not a big deal?

The fact that their old asses didn't get hurt was pure luck.

You're judging an outcome. I'm judging the process and rationale, and both were misplaced and ill-thought.

Again, for the players with a spot in the 11, it seemed pretty obvious they were holding up and not playing at 100%. It seems pretty obvious Pirlo and Villa were not putting themselves in dangerous positions. I don't think it's "pure luck" they escaped from this game without injury -- I think that was part of the plan.

You know what was a better plan not to get them injured? Stay the fuck home.

I love midas but think the injury fears are overblown. It's no different than practicing where the injury risk is the same. Also soccer is not American football, injuries are much more rare.

I also like the idea of the type of friendly. The Mexican fans absolutely loved to see us, and I can almost guarantee we will get a player from this type of friendly. Guys like matarrita will love to chime here to play with villa and springboard to Europe.
