Necaxa Postmatch

You may be a youngin then. Try this.

Or here's a short excerpt.

i have heard mention of this but i never researched or looked into it. as for my comment i guess i should of said soccer world....since i know there were other sports where stuff happens. I think there was a figure skating one as well that was massive and one of the participants was threatened etc or had a hitman sent to hurt her.

Making me feel old. That was Tanya Harding hiring someone (or was it her husband?) to take out Nancy Kerrigan, which was a pipe to the knee right before the Olympics in '94.

That's a tad different from fans storming the pitch. I also think acknowledging the practice in a video is almost celebrating it. That crap shouldn't be tolerated or encouraged.

I was watching vids on YouTube just last night and it showed fans hitting players and officials after running onto the pitch.

alright then agree to disagree on that...again its not something that has to happen every game. as for why the team did it...its for marketing to show how much people love our stars, at least that is how i took it. wether its right or not its the opinion of the viewer.

Didn't she hire Joey Butefucco? I kid, but the youngens here will never get that joke without a google search.

Were you Team Drew, Team Alyssa or Team Joelle?
I have to admit, it took me a few minutes to place the reference. I only recall the Drew and Alyssa versions. Drew's career certainly bounced back from that low point better!

I'm taking thread derailment to another level, but

It's not a big leap from one sport to another. Our world/media is fomenting more radical/extreme beliefs and more rage than ever before. It is not uncommon for athletes to receive death threats following poor performances or political statements. And again, I'm guessing you are young for this to have registered, but sometimes those death threats come with real action, and this in the sport of soccer no less.

If I were a player, I'd have a difficult time not being more than a bit wary of the intentions of someone crazy enough to rush the field.

no i get it, i just didnt feel like in this case there was any need for concern... every one loved pirlo and i dont think he had received death threats or else certain actions would of been taken.

had there been death threats or some other crappy reaction for him from prior matches then yes the concern was real. like i said in derbies or when a bad injury happens and the other player looks to be at fault ( even if its not) the threat is very real and i too would be careful who approached me.

i just dont like to always want to focus on the negative side to everything.

I totally agree with not wanting to view the world through a negative lens, but the Seles incident occurred under normal circumstances. No threats. No reason to believe there was any concern.

I guess I take the view that when someone takes one illegal and extreme action, another becomes more likely. Not likely, but more likely.

And this from a guy who has broken laws that with worse luck and different skin color would almost certainly have landed me in prison.

I wish I could still view the world through the prism of invulnerability that is generally a hallmark of youth. I envy you that.

not deviate the thread any longer....i have seen shit in my life and experienced some myself...but i really dont want to fall into full on negativity...especially in out current state of our nation with all the crap going on.

maybe eventually i will but i just dont want to right now.
