New Jersey (Home) - Postmatch

Wow what a game..

We dominated for the most part. This game should have been 6-2.. 3 posts and parks missing a wide open net.. and bwp missing a sitter.

Everyone played well and were up for it. Even Mitri was sprinting back to defend which was amazing to see. He had a great game. If he played every game like that he'd solidify his starting spot and silence critics including me. But for Robles heroics, he would have had one too.

Sucks to be without Mata and Ring next game. But they both could use a rest anyway. 9 out of 9 this week. Very happy.

Heber had a sweet finish.

So happy. Wonder what excuses the red bulls fans will come up with this time..

Wasn't happy that we got the Redbulls broadcast team for a nationally televised game

I didn't think we can out poorly I actually thought we had the better chances to score prior to them taking the lead

In some ways it was the mirror opposite of the first game with us scoring a late first half PK this time

I was very worried hitting the crossbar and posts was going to come back to bite us

I didn't want Maxi taking the PK glad he hit it still think Heber or Tatty would be my pick over him

Heber's goal was beautiful . He's not Villa obviously but we've got two very good forwards now something we never had in the Villa years.

If I have complaints their :

A - We let them back in a bit even before the red card. We really got pushed to the defensive for the last say 20 minutes? Great job to hold on though
B- Matta lost his head but I think the Redbull player who shoved and chest bumped him (can't remember who it was) also should have seen red.

NEW YORK IS BLUE!! Makes my weekend takes the pressure off my European games tomorrow.

Capping off a 3 game, 3 win week by beating our big rivals with a very convincing effort is heaven.

And if Heber doesn’t win goal of the week... that was dirty as hell

Also 29k in the stands. Awesome to see the stadium full like the old days :)

When watching the highlights, I gotta say the game looks like a complete mirror of the last derby. They score early, we score late first half penalty, we win in second half (albeit no controversy)

NY IS BLUE <3

We are now 6 points above them with two games in hand. This season is going absolutely terrific, Dome masterclass! We're winning the MLS cup!

I just realize that Steve Cangialosi and Shep Messing, who do the Red Bulls broadcast for MSG, called this match for ESPN. Fuck that bullshit.
I find Cangialosi to be ok, but Messing is such a homer. He will legit take shots at NYC for no reason during an MSG broadcast that we aren’t remotely involved in. Must be an inferiority complex or something. Definitely gutted him to announce this loss on national television. Fucking has been. NY is and always will be BLUE.

Heber's only chance at goal of the week is if Martinez doesn't go up as a candidate.

Such a great victory. RBNJ fans gotta be very bummed at their clear inferiority. Our touch. Wtf with Cangialosi and Shep doing a national game. Shep going on about the home field advantage...please! Though he actually was slightly less of a homer than usual, on balance.

Pretty much bossed them except on the goal. Heber finish was Villa quality. Mitrita ball in to Maxi that forced the pen was a masterful piece of vision and touch.

Mata shoulda kept his head, but I’m not mad at the passion. Very proud of the guys tonight.

NJRB fans are complaining about the field conditions and blaming it for why they lost... cause you know, they're the only ones who play on it. It's always gotta be something. At least our ref complaint when we lost in NJ was legit enough to get an apology from PRO.

We were the better team tonight. Plain and simple. They had their chances but we defended hard and got lucky a couple times too - balanced out the THREE posts.

Really wish Parks had put his clear header on an open net away. I'm sure he's gonna be having nightmares about that tonight.

Mata's passion is great, but it was a stupid headbutt. Reminded me of Zidane, except it was so light Murillo didn't even flinch or get pushed back. Ah well, take a rest Mata. Hopefully it's only a normal 1 game suspension and disco doesn't tack on another.

Sweat, you're up! I wonder who will take Ring's place next week... hoping it's Haak but it'll probably be Rocha.

Also - Why did Alex Ring get a yellow card? He goes shoulder to shoulder with Muyl. It's by the video boards. Muyl loses the duel and goes into the video boards. He puts his hands up while falling and he cuts his hands. The resulting restart is a throw in. So there wasn't a foul. Stupidity by the referees.

This was a completely shocking performance from this ref - seemed like in this moment he wasn't going to book Ring, then acquiesced to pressure from NJ players - then a few mins later a NJ player does the same thing and the ref gives a foul - then books the player after Ring complains that he got booked for the same thing. Maybe find a new line of work if you're just gonna let the players tell you how to ref the game.

Especially when compared to what Parker did to Castellanos at 85-86', which wasn't even given as a foul.
Also, I'm not sure why Matarrita got the red card. Murillo initiated the head-to-head contact, softly. Then they kept oddly nuzzling each other. At some point Mata tried to head butt him but failed and only made contact with the chest, so why the red?

exactly - book Ring for a relatively innocuous challenge and let similar ones go for the rest of the night.

And I think any movement of the head towards the opponent is pretty much an automatic red. Doesn't matter if you don't make contact with the head/face, if you're thrusting your own out there (See: Zidane, Zinadine).

Mata definitely just nutted him in the chest and you can expect to walk in most games for that. Dumbass.
