Nil Satis Nisi Optimum--official Everton Thread

Apparently Samuel Eto'o is already on his way out of Sampdoria, and ESPNFC speculates he could be heading to the MLS.

Eto'o has become so disappointing. He was shit for two clubs this year and now he wants to find a bigger paycheck. Plus his attitude is toxic with the rumors of him causing locker room problems at Everton and walking out of his first day of training at Sampdoria

But this bit worries me:
"The cost of the transfer would be half what Tottenham want for Aaron Lennon who spent the second half of last season on Merseyside."

Why the worry? Gerry for 3 mil sounds fantastic to me, unless the reason it's so cheap is a buyback clause or something similar.

I guess I interpreted the comparison as meaning they were going with Deulofeu *instead* of Lennon. And I want my Aaron Lennon!

Hopefully if we get him that cheap we'll be able to deal for both. Imagine a Toffees side with two functioning wingers every game!

There are some rumors sure, but I'd hardly say that Lukaku looks set to leave at this point. We'll see, but I don't buy it so far.
Carnt make my mind up about lukaku if he's the real deal or not.
Think I read somewhere he changed agents and said he would never have gone to Everton.
Let's see what he can do next season

Well, Lukaku underperformed tremendously in the goalscoring department, at least compared to his potential. I kept calling him a Muppet due to his weird clumsiness on the ball. He's a good target man, but he can't be a lone striker IMO; gotta play him as part of two or three upfront.

Anyway, I don't think that we need to worry about losing him in this transfer window. If he scores 30 goals or something for us next season, then look for him to get poached.

I'm calling the first ten like this:

So get comfy with 12 points going in to Halloween.

I'm not even confident on that first fixture against Watford. Promoted teams are dangerous their first game up.

I hope I'm proved wrong, but we definitely don't have an easy road.

The rumor mill says Chelsea and ManU are trying to steal John Stones from us. Chelsea might want Pepe from Real Madrid instead. Stones helps with EPL homegrown quotas, though. Apparently Martinez doesn't want to sell him (shockingly).

Hope not, but then I like to take all rumors from the Mirror with about a pound of salt.

In other news, this sounds promising:

Gerry finally official. A little bit more than some of the rumors suggested, but still looks like a good price.

And as to the Lukaku leaving discussion typicalcity typicalcity , this makes it sound like he's pretty happy where he is:

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has credited his manager, Roberto Martinez, with bringing about an upturn in his form during 2015.
