NWSL

I'm having trouble figuring out why we think the ideal stadium location for NYCFC mens would be different from NYCFC ladies. Or how this discussion is different to an ideal stadium location discussion.

The implication is that the suburban family with female children is a more important demo for women's soccer than men's? I just don't see the basis for this assumption. Not saying that it's not there. I'm also biased as somebody who lives in the urban areas who traveled for a women's football tournament tho lol

I’m not saying I know that. I’m asking what the demographics are.

Willets is more accessible to more suburban families than the Bronx is. My assumption (and why I would like to see the demographics) is that the crowd for the Chicago Red Stars is different than the Fire.

I don’t see a world where Los Templados and the Nazis FC are attending a woman’s match.

Would probably have to be Las Templadas at the very least j/k j/k j/k.

I'm guessing the demo for Red Stars would be different to the Fire too. But I don't think that's necessarily so, based purely on the fact that one is a women's team and one is a men's team. I think it probably has more to do with the particular circumstances surrounding the game, the way it's marketed, etc. And while I'm not saying that the sex of the players is completely irrelevant to the demographics of the audiences, I don't know if it would result in a huge urban / suburban split or even necessarily in gender splits.

I’m positive that the club has a mind numbing amount of data on the demographics of our supporters. Ages. Gender. Kids/no kids. Race. Location.

If they wanted to have a women’s club, which they don’t, they would take that data and look at NWSL data.

I agree. I understand that they originally expected the fans to be international with many from Latin America. While that represents a substantial portion of the fan base, the most common demographic is young, affluent, and white (anglo).

How’s that data working with their STH retention?

Sky Blue FC relocating to Red Bull Arena next year. And also partnering with NJRB. So whoo hoo great news but also ugh at the same time LOL.

So that means no more sky blue players coming over to start the smoke stacks and get free jerseys?

I do wonder what took so long? Could it be RB didnt want it but now that they are renting the stadium that the county wants more revenue?

If we get a NWSL team down the road, they'll be natural rivals to SkyBlue like we are to Red Bull, but.... SkyBlue is.... sky blue, dark blue, and orange, no?

I have a strong feeling that if *we* had a stadium they'd be partnering with us.

It appears the NWSL is going to do the same tournament style play that MLS is planning to do, but in Utah instead. Tbh I think from a players perspective I would prefer to play in the Utah summer conditions than the Florida summer conditions. The CBS all access stream is $6.00 a month. I think I'll be watching the NWSL instead of MLS this summer if I cant find a cheaper way to stream MLS.

When NWSL returns on June 27, they begin a new broadcast deal with CBS and Twitch to air all of the season's games. A small number will be on regular CBS, the entire season will be shown on both CBS All Access and CBS Sports Network (cable), and "internationally"* it will be available on Twitch.
*if there is some sort of regional lockout it should be easy enough to circumvent with a VPN.

EDIT:

No worries man! You were more informative than I was anyways. I'm just looking forward to some local soccer, whether it's the men's or women's game

Full NWSL Challenge Cup schedule announced. First match on Saturday, June 27th at 12:30pm on CBS, North Carolina vs Portland. Cup match on Sunday, July 26th, also at 12:30pm on CBS. All other matches on CBS All Access but will also be rebroadcast at some later point on CBS Sports Network. Beginning matches will be at Zions Bank Stadium in Utah; seats 5,000. Semis and final match will be at Rio Tinto Stadium.

My only regret is they couldn't manage to use a longer URL for the article.

NWSL Challenge Cup starting right now on CBS (with the rest of the matches before the final on CBS All Access).

Yeah lots of heavy hitters backing/running that club.

Anyone watching the NWSL tournament? I've been watching and despite the scarcity of goals I've been enjoying it quite a lot. Once you get familiar with some of the clubs, players and storylines. Also, some of them are pretty cute ;)

Also, they were smarter than MLS to hold the tournament in Utah. Better, safer location.
