NYCFC Announce Citi Field Series (2020)

they're probably just going to take what they did for the playoff game and assign the same seats and say "contact your rep if you have issues". less work for them since their "experts" already did the hard work for STHs once.

...but I expect this to be exactly what the FO will do, assign the same ones and then “call us if you want to switch”

No, for Columbus 2017 they didn't have Pitchside, so I (and think most people) bought M&M. For Toronto 2019 they actually had Pitchside seats on the field with exactly the same setup as Yankee Stadium (they literally took the seats over from Yankee Stadium). But the hospitality and logistics were terrible as compared to Yankee Stadium. I'm looking for a credit more than anything else.
The M&M seats were for Champions seats. MUCH better seats, but MUCH worse hospitality. Lukewarm/soggy burgers and naked hot dogs. Not even any M&Ms.

To be fair I’m guessing the resale market for these 4 games might actually be robust enough that it’d make more sense to sell them rather than trade them in
I have observed nothing in the last 4 years of membership that would suggest this is true. What are you basing it on?

Not sure, but I know that I was on the bottom section and they were not able to coordinate with the top section properly. I asked someone and he mentioned something that was different, but I don't remember what it was.
In 2017 they didn’t assign seats. We received refunds and priority pre-sale access to buy whatever seats we wanted.

Come to think of it the Delta Club at YS doesn't involve air travel or in any way mimic the experience of air travel.

On the other hand that's probably a positive.

I think they need to move the supporter section to the other side of the field, where there's a cohesive group
Not only was it lacking cohesion having the sections on top of each other (I was also on the bottom, and it was impossible to coordinate with the Templados/drums above, so it seemed completely dead to me), the sight lines were terrible. One of the reasons I enjoy the supporters section is that, although it's more difficult to see the opposite end of the pitch, you get one side very close up and have a decent tactical view of the field. That was not true at Citi at all.
What changed about how they sat supporters in 2017 and 2019? IIRC there was a consensus that the SS in 2017 was really good and the sound carried much better from there than from the LF bleachers in NYC. In 2019 there have been complaints both that the views were obstructed and the sound did not carry. But it looked to me like they were in the same place.
I wasn't able to make it to the 2017 game against Columbus, but they didn't seat anyone on the upper level. Couldn't find a good photo in game, but if you look at the club's photos during the 'shirt off our backs' event after, you'll see the lower section is still full but no one on top.

i think he's assuming there may be higher demand for a weekend game in queens over a weekday game in the bronx.
Yeah, basically I’m guessing that having a limited chunk of NYCFC matches announced well in advance closer to home for a base of fans in queens would motivate those fans to attend the matches, which might be more demand than the usual Yankee Stadium crowd. Remember that the last two Citi Field matches have been last minute moves and I believe both were midweek, with colder weather.

Edited the title of the thread because if NYCFC announce something it's official. And added (2020) since it's likely we're going to see for future seasons as well. Sigh.

The FO should absolutely allow members to opt out of those games if they want, and allow manual seat selection if they don’t like the seats they’re assigned. Also if they’re charging more for row 1 seats, they better put everyone who’s in a YS row 1 seat in a Citi field row 1 seat.

While I liked my view generally, it was absolutely a worse seat than my seat at Yankee stadium.

I can’t see how they legally could do this to a season ticket holder. It’s a fucking joke to spring this now.

I love how everything has to be "branded" too

"The Citi Field Series"..... guess it does make for a punchier lede than "Eyo chaps, we had to arrange a bit of scheduling inconvenience for some of you..."
