NYCFC Around the City & World

The only time my jersey got noticed was in the grocery store, and the woman asked if I worked for Etihad Airways. Didn't even understand it was a soccer jersey

This is the problem with ads on soccer jerseys. The ad is much bigger than the team's logo! So for the unknowing observer, it makes perfect sense to suppose that that's what the shirt is promoting.

John Oliver recently had a piece on the Ponzi scheme of multi-level marketing. He showed an Indian marketing video by Herbalife; and, in it, almost all the people were wearing Galaxy jerseys, which of course feature an Herbalife ad that dwarfs the Galaxy logo.

This is why there's no way that I could ever wear an NYCFC game jersey. I have several hats and a warmup jacket; the only logo on the front of any of these is the team's.

Before the first season, a guy I know (who is actually a Red Bull fan) got me a t-shirt replica of the home shirt. I was very grateful for the gesture; but, after a bit of wrestling with myself, I decided to ask him for the receipt so that I could exchange it for something I could actually wear. I wound up switching it for a t-shirt that features a large team logo front and centre.

On my subway car this morning I see a guy wearing an NYCFC scarf. What upset me is that he rubbed his nose on the scarf. Ew, don't deface the scarf.

Again, if you're in the city or not, post when you see people supporting NYCFC gear.

I work in Port Chester and see gear almost every day when its nice out.
2 other people that work in my building are STH and I am not counting them.

I saw the same person in my office building with his NYCFC STH bag today. It just looks so weird lol. But hey, it stands out.

Well if you are ever in Vila-real, in the province of castellon, an hr from valencia. And see some kids or adults with NYCFC backpacks, scarves, shirts - you're welcome :sunglasses:

(i took mostly NYCFC merch to family members in Spain - bought it during the great Modells sale of November 2016)

I was on a video conference with a school about a year ago ... they were in the south somewhere, and the principal was full-kitting it in a villa jersey, and shorts and socks and a white addidas headband. It was apprantly sports day at their school or whatever. I gave him props over the chat thing ... he didn;t seem like he gave a shit about the team but that the stuff was cheap and he got it all the day before. Oh well.

Also was in D.C. and saw a guy on the metro (what they call the subway) who had the grey messenger bag. We chatted he was real nice. Same thing happened in nyc at the women's march thing. But at that I saw a woman in Orlando gear and booed at her and made a stink - not the best environment to make fun of a woman.

That is all.

I have been in the most important city in the world from 22nd August to 3rd September and I watched the Hudson derby the 24th August at Yankee Stadium (fantastic atmosphere!!). But my biggest surprise has been to see more NYCFC shirts than Yankees and Mets shirts in the city during my fantastic vacation in NYC!!!
Forza NYCFC from Napoli (Italy). Fuck off NJ Red Bulls.

careful... some of us across the bridge are among the NYCFC faithful. Besides, most of New York isn’t exactly Shangri-La either.

For your information, when i walk out my door in this great city, birds sing and the sun shines bright. people greet me with a smile and a nice lady buys me a coffee and a bagel with lox.

i also might have walked through a lot of second hand weed smoke.

I saw someone in my apartment building with the season ticket holder backpack, but I was too shy to say anything as it wasn't a match day.

The team has them out on the table in the main concourse before matches - probably ordered far too many and are still using them as perks for new season ticket buyers.

You sure they aren't the original Ogio ones that got screwed up? Got to do something with 10,000 backpacks with misaligned logos and faulty zippers.
