NYCFC In The Media Thread - 2016

Do we do more with the Mayor than any of the other teams?

It's great that front office is doing all it can to Win! the city over from its residents to the government and demonstrate that NYCFC is this city's soccer team. That being said, should the Red Bulls win MLS Cup, would they have a ticker tape parade with de Blasio at the ceremony? I think Dante would show up and just boo the entire time in his NYCFC jersey.

So they never attempted getting into the city?
What do you mean by getting into the city? As in playing inside the city? Or marketing in the city?

I won't pretend to know much about their attempts to play in the city, but in regards to marketing and trying to capture the city from that perspective, I know they have tried, but I don't think their methods have been smart and definitely not successful.

After taking ownership and before building in Jersey, did they make any attempt to find a spot in the city?
I think they did, but it ultimately wasn't that important for them. But honestly, I don't know much about their attempt to build a stadium within the city.

My initial comment was moreso about their attempts to market in the city and capture fans here.

What a fantastic initiative by the team, once again increasing its stranglehold on the city.

It really is amazing the massive opportunity the Red Bulls have let slip through their fingers.

They didn't want to make the investment to do so. It was never about football. It was always about the brand.

They did. Flushing Meadows and the Aqueduct were two sites they looked at until GmbH came in and bought out the club and pushed through the plans for Harrison, NJ.
Not sure if you were just shortening it instead of writing Red Bull, but GmbH is essentially like saying LLC came in. Doesn't narrow it down as there are quite a few businesses with it. For a little more info, check Here.

Also, thank you for all of the information you get and pass on to us peasants.
