NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2019

No one puts on Fox Sports 1 the way they do ESPN when there's nothing they're interested in watching. Unless there's something specific on FS1 that people know about, 95% of viewers are just going to switch on ESPN to see if there's anything on. I don't know anyone that turns their TV on and puts FS1 on unless you know XXXX is on at that time slot.

fair. then do people not like how Fox produces games? does ESPN soccer coverage feel like a better viewing experience and more people watch it?
IDK. I saw the suggestion somewhere that bars with limited TVs are much more likely to put on ESPN than FS! out of inertia, which I suppose is true but I also doubt that explains big number differences. EDIT: And The Toe just raised that point above me. Who knows, maybe it is big.

This week I think the biggest effect is the teams. Seattle and Atlanta are 2016 and 2018 MLS Cup winners, and possibly the biggest most passionate fanbases in MLS. The difference this week was 300k viewers. I can believe that viewers in Seattle and Atlanta metro areas constitute at least 80% of that difference.

Interesting quote from Reyna:

"we are looking to sign three more players (from academy to first team) in the next six to 12 months from our local talent pool."

Can we take a stab at which 3?

Well we already know one of them. The defender I always forget the name (kwame? not Awuah but something similar?), and I'm assuming the others might also be defensive-minded.

(0-10 with 10 being highest of likeliness to sign, just educated guesses)

(10) Kwaku Owusu - Already offered a contract that was on the MLS Players Union website, no update since that
(8) Tayvon Gray
(6) Veljko Petkovic
(6) Andres Jasson
(6) Dante Polvara
(6) Will Citron
(5) Jonathan Jimenez
(5) Will Sands
(4) Colman Kim

I think you're talking about 1. CB Kwaku Owusu, also how they get 2. CB Nico Benalcazar (think he was in training camp), and 3. Andres Jasson (F & golden boot winner)

Doing research for a family reunion in NYC next month. Came across this site with 52 things to do in NYC. Looked at their sporting events and saw that for football they included two NJ teams - Giants and Jets. For Soccer ...

Everyone knows NY is blue.
