NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2019

This is exactly where I come out. By MLS standards, this roster is stacked, and we are deeper than ever. If this season spirals, it's substantially on Dome. I am probably more optimistic than most by believing that he's got better than a coin flip's chance at being an effective manager. I give him a clean slate and a handful or two of games to prove that his tactics and acumen click. Tails.
I see what you did there hedging to be generous with a handful or realistic with two.

I'll maintain that I think this season we have one of the best rosters in MLS. Depth for days up front and in the midfield, the best CB pairing in the league, and a top-5 MLS goalie.

I guess what I'm saying is, if they struggle I don't think it's the players.
I wonder if he is even fireable in-season under any circumstance.

I’m sure last place would be for cause. The question is how much higher in the standings would also constitute cause.

We set a fairly clear precedent with Kreis. I think if it becomes apparent there is zero chance of us making the playoffs then we are firing the manager. Thing is with MLS being MLS, it would take a spectacularly bad year for that to become obvious before the final few weeks of the season.

Well, Matt Doyle said we had 0 percent chance of making the playoffs in 2016 during our first run of matches.

We made the playoffs...as the second seed.

Who do we want next season? Sarri or Mourinho?

Mourinho. Just because the press conferences would be better.

Also the Pep vs. Mourinho and Mourinho being on "Man City Lite" or whatever would be so hilarious. Also Mourinho vs. Araos (or any non-major news source) would be epic.

"What is NYCFC Nation? What is Blue City Radio? What is Blue Balls Radio?"

Kreis was not an 11-year deputy and close friend to the most important man employed by CFG.

I think other than a resignation, there is no way he leaves mid-season, no matter how bad it gets.

Mourinho would DEFINITELY not play Lewis.

Which of our gk draft picks would refuse to be subbed off right before a pk shooutout in the open cup final?

Honestly, Mourinho would be the best thing to happen to us. We’d lose miserably but we’d be talked about as much as the Jets.

No no no no no.......

I hate the situation we’re in now with Dome, but Jose is not the solution. I just suffered through his arrogance that rotted out my other club, and his presence at NYCFC would be stage 4 cancer. And any semblance of attacking soccer would be shelved for militant midfielders that hack/slash their way to protecting the bunkered backline.

We would suck. But we would be the talk of the town.

I’m only half kidding because I’m afraid we already suck and we just don’t know it yet.

Predictions
  • Ben Baer: 7th in East
  • Calen Carr: 6th in East
  • Charlie Davies: 7th in East
  • Matt Doyle: 8th in East
  • Bobby Warshaw: 8th in East
  • Andrew Wiebe: 5th in East
MLS Digital makes it sounds like it will be a bleak season. I think we have one of the most talented rosters. It's just a matter of getting to make it work.

At least Calen "The Alienist" Carr has us edging out FCC for the last playoff spot in the East.
