NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2021

Relative to established old guys like Pirlo, Lampard and Villa? Let’s see, Maxi, Tinny, Heber, and Ring. They all worked our pretty well. We certainly got more points out of them.

Lee lied and said we’ve had success buying young guys. Maxi? Old. Tinny, Heber and Ring? In their prime. Taty? He counts. That’s one. He’s mer expectetions. And we’re selling him apparently before he’s ever hit his prime.

So who are these young guys we’ve spent some money on that have panned out. I can’t think of one.

Well that depends on your view of "we". If we is CFG then Herrera and Harrison and Angelino fit into that picture.

If we means NYCFC, Poku?

I don't see Lee or Sims saying any such thing in the article. They say we're done signing older big names, and say we've had more success since we stopped doing that. But there's nothing in there about success specifically via buying younger players. The word buy (and its variants) never appears in the article. Young only appears when the article author (not Sims or Lee) mentions the U22 Initiative. I think it's fair to paraphrase their message as we're done signing older big stars and targeting younger than that which include players in their prime, but not necessarily younger than prime or obtained by purchasing rights.

Why would we include any team other than NYCFC?

That is a convenient cop out from Lee then. Of course we are more successful today than Year 1 and 2. We were the last expansion side to be hamstrung by MLS 2.0 rules.

I struggle to see how this team couldn’t be improved by Chicharito or Higuain etc.

We’re ducking Arsenal, aren’t we?

not really related to the convo but chicharito has been trash for a few years now. he claims he is in a good place mentally and physically this year so well see. he only scored twice last year and did not play well, and we would of been talking of another bust DP.

current leading scorer in MLS!

Just click through. Not an app. Steamed additional content simulcast with the game to watch on computer or mobile. No game footage.
I did not try this. It uses a third-party site. First screen asked for my phone # for verification, which I did not think necessary, but gave it. The next screen wanted me to make a screen name, enter my name, email, and other info and I just left. There was no Privacy Statement offered either. That's a lot of information to watch secondary content.

would be kinda funny if those 2 are the only goals he scores all season. lol
i mean its been one week. Medina was our top goal scorer for some time and the opinion of him did not change.
i think he will do better this year but still big question mark if he does DP numbers.
Lol

ETA: I’m not criticizing you guys; I might have said all you guys said, but it’s funny. Plus I like to see struggling players turn it around and start performing.
