NYCFC move 6/3 match vs Union to 3 PM. They then change it back to 1 PM

It's interesting that they have information suggesting fans want games a little later in the afternoon if all things are equal. I say it's interesting because the Yankees typically get 40,000+ on almost any weekend 1pm game. I know the NYCFC crowd is way younger than the Yankees crowds normally are, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Its definitely a generational thing. I've had more than a few friends cancel on me for a 1pm Sunday game because they woke up at 2 from the night before. And to be fair, I've generally cut off the revelry early when there is a 1 pm game on because I value the marginal utility of watching a soccer game live more than the marginal utility of partying for another hour or three.

Additionally, I don't know about you. But I find it a hell of a lot easier to watch a soccer game after a leisurely brunch with some mimosas ending no earlier than 1:30, preferably starting at 1. Starting the game at 1 just throws off my entire preferred Sunday schedule.

Basically soccer is a sport where you go to the stadium after having had a few, baseball is a sport where you go to the stadium and have a beer (unless playoffs). And its damn hard to have had a few on a Sunday if you need to be in your seats by 1.

OK - so this is how it works - no cover charge. At the conclusion of our match, they will open up the Delta Club to NYCFC fans and they will have the match on the TVs in the Delta Club. That simple
