NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

So the question for me is why did he leave?
I don’t follow City closely enough to vouch for any of this, but some reply tweets mentioned that he still wants to play (so, not Man City) and that he didn’t want to uproot his family for New York. Either way, good for him—seems like as good a next step as you could wish for.

Didn’t watch Roma this year. Understand he only played 1,500 minutes.

How did he play during those 1,500 minutes? I’m not an automatic no. If we have money that needs to be burned or it’s lost, I don’t see the issue with improving a position on our roster. I just want to make sure he can help us.

He still plays well when he plays...but he was slowly being replaced the past few years, but always stayed around because of his leadership and grit on the pitch and in the locker room. If the club is honest about what his role is and they don't overpay, it would be dumb not to. Think him and ofori could be a good rotation. They can't parade him around like Pirlo pretending he's a 28 yo 7m DP. De Rossi is what he is now. He's a tough mofo though and maybe we need more bite besides Ring.

ETA: The comparisons to Pirlo are off. Pirlo coasted here and as a Juve fan I can tell you he was coasting there at the end too. The knock on Pirlo shouldn't be that he was old or whatever...the guy took off most of the game. If he busted his ass here, most would have given him a pass for not delivering. De Rossi puts his heart and soul into the game. So there wouldn't be a lack of passion with him. Again, just depends on the terms and expectations.

Hes tough but he wont go balls out into tackles like ring does. Hes actually quite timid when it comes to tackling. However hes an expert at breaking up plays and intercepting. As well as hes a phenomenal passer.
