NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

People are trying to hide from the result of a prominent soccer game and decide to go to the safe haven of a ... checks notes ... soccer fan message board?

Not trying to drag you here, just think if I'm trying to avoid spoilers on a Champions League game, the last place I would visit is this forum.
The rule we've always observed is it's ok to discuss results in the relevant thread but not elsewhere.

Via Google Translate: "One of the best players this season, Heber, went to a medical examination at Machester to cross the New York City club.
According to unofficial sources, the Rijeka could earn about EUR 2.5m from the Heber transfer!
Heber has been in Rujeci since 2016 and in two and a half years he collected 52 appearances and scored 27 goals.
We wish him luck in the new club!"

F | Mitrita, Heber, Lewis(?)
M | Maxi, Ring, Sands
D | Sweat, Callens, Chanot, Tinnerholm

And imagine selling Medina this summer for a new RW DP, and bringing in a new starter at LB.

Even Dome shouldn't be able to screw up that lineup.

He wears #9. Maybe that's what they meant about "acquiring a true 9" for the team....

A little confused here.... how exactly can we obtain him if he’s got a multi-mil transfer fee and we’ve got the $750k Jack harrison GAM and assuming some 2019 seasonal GAM? TAM can’t be combined, so he still seems like he’d be a DP for no other reason than his transfer fee hit.

The transfer fee can be amortized over multiple years. So a $3M transfer fee on a 4-year deal would leave us enough to pay him a strong salary and still keep him as a TAM player.

Doing the math -- let's say for sake of argument the transfer fee is $3M. On a four-year deal that would be a budget charge of $750,000, meaning we could sign him to a $750,000/year contract and still keep him as a TAM player.

Ok, got it. But it did say transfer could hit 3.4m so that’s another $100k/year, so drop the avg salary to $650k. Also, a 4 year deal is taking a big risk that he’s going to be able to deliver, otherwise we’ll be doing a great impression of the Knicks. And if not a 4year deal, and a 3, I guess he’s making a small salary, but still doable per the amortization.

Listed at 1.82m which is 5.97 feet, or 5' 11.5"
On our roster, that's a fucking giant.

Right. Obviously without knowing the exact numbers we don't know, but unless they're dumping Medina (seems unlikely) he's coming in as a high-priced TAM player. Also saying a transfer fee "could hit" $3.4 is not the same as the transfer fee actually being $3.4. For example, we first thought Mitrita's transfer fee was around $9M before we learned it was actually $8.5M. In this instance, those differences are important.

Also, we were paying a boatload of money to Berget. I guess if you look hard enough you could find professional Brazilian soccer players with as bad a first touch as Berget, but that's not what they are known for, so let's hope it is a substantial upgrade over our last 6 feet tall #9, and that should make him more than useful.

Lewis could be really good on the wing with a good target player. It’s time to let him loose with those 3 just to run at players and cross the ball.
