NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Mitri and Maxi and Mertens, oh My!

lionstigersbears_orig.jpg

Mertens was offered a €4 contract to stay with Napoli but wants €5. With the exchange rate and tax difference, it would probably take close to 6m to get a deal done. I saw that the interest is in Mertens wanting NYCFC, but the club hasn't shown interest. This would suggest that he stays in Europe.

We couldn't sell Mitri for what we paid right now, Maxi can't be sold at his age and Medina couldn't be sold for a bag of balls at this point. So how is not being able to sell Mertens any different than every DP we've ever had?

Are you saying the plan was to sell Mitrita after one season?

Nope I'm saying our limited track record of even being about to recoup what we spent on Medina and so far Mitri is not great so why bother.

Our academy seems to be doing great and has shown that it can produce players that will produce ROI when they are sold. We also found another possible option for transfer $ through the draft with Harrison. I understand the club needs to generate transfer $ but why gamble DP slots to do it.

I doubt the draft will result in many more $ coming our way. Harrison was the top overall draft pick that we were able to trade up to from #4. Lewis was another we traded high up for. We shouldn't be picking in the top 10 for a while.

Additionally, the draft has less and less talent in it every year as most of these guys are either already in MLS academies, or are going overseas.

There isn’t a track record because it’s only been 5 years. Medina and Mitri have nothing to do with one another.

This is like the third time someone pins a man city GK to us. The source is a chilean news outlet, i always say take southameican sources with grain of salt.

Edit: ok i found the source. It says there are three teams interested and one is the one offering 4years contract. After that it mentions that a “possible” destination is nycfc as they are part of CFG group. It doesnt state they are the ones offering the 4 year contract.

The New York City puts its eyes on Papu

The New York City can be an exit route in this winter market for Papunashvili. The club of the Major Soccer League is very interested in the Georgian player and both he and Zaragoza are looking for a way out for the player, who aims to leave the team in January to release wage mass. Papu and some more, because the Aragonese club needs to release wage mass to make room, in addition to a 9, with Darío Poveda as a goal, to a midfielder with capacity with the ball that Victor wants and that he already asked for in summer. The departure of the Georgian, with a contract until 2022, would be through a transfer, even if it was not high, and he would release his salary.

The American team has followed the player and in Zaragoza they already know the interest in him, but there is currently no firm offer. The New York City is waiting to finalize the hiring of a new coach after the termination of Doménec Torrent's contract two weeks ago, after falling in the MLS semifinals against Toronto, which would later lose the final with the Seattle Sounders in which exzaragocista Víctor Rodríguez played. With Torrent the New York City reached its best historical score in the Eastern Conference, but the coach decided not to continue.

The New York club is determined to bet on Papu, but wants to wait to sign a coach to make that decision in common, although in MLS the weight of the technicians is not as great as in Europe. In New York City, founded in 2013 as a Manchester City franchise (the other founder is the New York Yankees, one of the great baseball clubs in the United States), Spanish soccer players such as David Villa, Iraola, Angeliño or Pablo Alvarez This season has been done by the former player of Numancia Callens. An offer in February of 1.3 million by James Igbekeme, specifically from Toronto, came to Zaragoza in February, which was rejected by the club and there are several teams from that League interested in Eguaras, especially the Seattle Sounders.

Papu arrived in Zaragoza in the summer of 2017 after paying Dinamo de Tbilisi a little less than 100,000 euros in his transfer. His first course was notable in the second round, under the command of Natxo González, and the club decided to renew him until 2022 and not transfer him even though he knew of the interest of some Russian team in the Georgian end. His second campaign was marked by a long ankle injury and last summer Zaragoza, with partisan voices in the club for sale, decided to keep his bet on him when considering the sports direction that was not the best time for his transfer. This season he has played 10 games, but only two starts and 308 minutes, with a performance far from his level in a role of revulsive that Victor has assigned and that has not been easy to adapt. Papu, in addition to in Russia,

Common thought, but do we really have that many? If Medina is on his way out, we really only have three (Mitrita, ITS, GMS) or four if you count Castellanos, who plays best at striker and is also likely on his way out this summer. We need at least one new winger this offseason, in my opinion.

We also might open the season with as many as 7 games in 4 weeks, if we win clear the first round of CCL and play a league match in each of the first three weeks of the season. Depth is mandatory.

not to mention Heber seems like pretty injury prone... and GMS isn't exactly lighting things up. having more forwards wouldn't hurt.
