I really enjoyed his interview. Very plain spoken and down to earth. Doesn’t seem the kind of guy to mealymouth and placate. Says what he feels

Mitrita had 2 goals in Italy. Martinez sucked too over there so I guess NYCFC is hoping lightning strikes twice?

Without being a jerk. Too often the "I just say what I feel"types wield that as an excuse for bad behavior. Obviously he's carefully making his first impression, but I like it. I even like how he chose not to respond to the "what are your goals" question. It's easy to say "win trophies," etc. He said let me get my feet wet and see how it goes first. I like people who want to think before they talk.

He was there when he was 19 and 20? Moved back to Romania and let it up in between. I'd be more concerned if we were singing him directly from 2 years 2 goals in Italy.

Wow, Alexandru is wee. The title of "Tiny Dynamite" which was once solidly Maxi's is now up for grabs.

The videos pretty clearly show he has talent. The question is whether that talent can translate to MLS. It's prety much impossible to know that until we see him in action. Excited to see what he brings.

It was also interesting in his interview that he says his favorite player is Giovinco, and he started following MLS when Giovinco went there. So at the very least I don't think the Giovinco comparisons are off-base.

    Ha!

Hopefully he has a better performance in MB Stadium that Levine did.

    NYCFC DEPTH CHART

    Striker/Wing: Tajouri-Shradi, Castellanos, Lewis
    Forward/CAM: Moralez, Medina, Mitrita
CM: Ring, Parks, Ofori, Sands, Torres, Bedoya, Rocha, Haak
    RB: Tinnerholm, Scally, [Abdul-Salaam]
    LB: Matarrita, Sweat
    CB: Chanot, Callens, Ibeagha
    GK: Johnson, Stuver, Caldwell, Barraza

    ETA

That's 24-26 players depending on whether we stick with 4 goalkeepers and Abdul-Salaam's status. In the past we've carried anywhere from 26-30 players - 30 is the maximum. That leaves maybe 2-4 more.

I think we need another forward or two. Right now, we have 6 players for the 4 advanced spots (3 forwards and CAM). one or both of a starting level striker and a guy for depth would be appropriate. Same at CB - maybe 1-2 guys for depth there.

I think we are good elsewhere.

Importantly, I think we really only need 1 guy who would regularly feature in the 18 - and that's a striker - and maybe the Club is thinking differently.

He looks great IMHO. Pescara picked him pretty young, which means they saw good potential. And he has been on fire the last year, so there's that. But he's not a target striker, and for him to fully blossom he would still need a muscular 9 dragging defenders away to open lanes for him to go 1 v 1. He does look Giovinco-ish in his moves.

    Inventory:

This was my first thought as well. He looks great when he has a player knocking a ball down to him.

We don’t have that. I have no clue how we’ll get this guy the ball.

Me-Treats-A myself to hopefully a lot of beautiful goals and 1 on 1s with the goalie actually being finished??

Seems like a few of his goals came with a bunch of people in and around the box. His diminutive state helps him to navigate a highly crowded box, which we tend to enjoy. This may work out?

If they have the accents and tildes on his kit I am 100% getting it. Love accented/umlaut/tilde characters on kits. If they go the lazy way and just have MITRITA I'll be pissed.

    EDIT:
Based on his interview video, the T will at least have the accent. NICE
