You seeing this? Doyle saying we're making MLS Cup...
He is a seer and a genius. So is Charlie Davies.
Warshaw, OTOH, Toronto? Portland is a nice differential pick, but Toronto? They're below the playoff line. They have only 4 home games left, and their 7 away games include New England, RBA, NYC, and LAFC. They might make the playoffs, but they're super long shots to get even 1 Home playoff game.

his normal move, shits on us on start, puts us up in pedestal middle season, and when we dont make it he goes back saying: see my original shit take was right all along.
Is a shit take really a shit take when it is consistently right?
Maybe this year we break the pattern.

hes hedging, if he we do win hell say hey look i said mid season they would win. not really analysis.

i do recall one year ( i think maybe second year) the formations in his analysis are not even correct or who the starters are ( i know he has to look at many teams but come on) and we are always never going to be a good team to be playoff worthy ( not just this year) and we ended up second in the east. but in the end his gig is to shit talk push buttons get views so i cant really blame him for that ( same with warshaw to an extent) im not going to him for analysis though.

Really? The fact that a sports commentator changes his mind between preseason and midseason is evidence of hedging? Nonsense. It's fair to criticize Doyle for bad analysis, but I see no evidence he does what Warshaw or Lalas does, which is deliver hot takes for the sake of hot takes. If anything, he is overbearingly earnest, and takes himself and his opinions too seriously to say anything he doesn't believe.

because when the shift changes again or results dont come our way he will go back yet again on his opinion about us. flip flopping again like he always does. Doyle's opinion is just as good as your's or mine, he never played pro, he never managed, he is not even a sports journalist ( i think his background is being a playwright or some thing like that), thats why his "analysis" is trash and his takes are all over the place. his takes are as good as yours or mine, i dont see why people put so much value on his takes.

honestly I would put all three in the same boat that's how bad it is to me. lalas and warshaw analyis are bad but at least i give them half a point ahead because they have played the game and i think both go out and interview other players and managers. Doyle just stays in studio.

by those standards Stephen A. Smith is an amazing analyst.
Doyle (like SAS) is an entertainer. He writes fluidly, he stokes controversy, he gets enthusiastic. It's not always my cup of tea but he's good at what he does. If he wanted to get serious about "analysis" (data analytics and the like) he'd be looking for a job in the backroom staff of some team, not on MLSSoccer.com

(All of which is not to say there isn't room for more genuine, data-driven, high-expertise soccer analysis out there....it's hard to get it right and make it accessible, but whoever cracks it is onto a winner)
