It was a hard fought battle, and came really clo-... oh, who am I kidding, Héber won it by a landslide! 14 - 8!

Congrats to our loveable, cuddly, ATL-defense-ripping, Héber Araújo dos Santos, also known as "Air bear"!

Gray made it over Mata. Yet he's never played a game before. (And yes, no other left back because of Ben Sweat...)

Until next off season, it's been fun!

We need to do an all time one. Oh who am I kidding. Everyone knows who’d win that. Lampard.
Coordinating that would take... oh boy, just thinking about it makes me shiver LOL. Specifically the amount of players, and how to group them since the forum poll system has a max number of options, so we'd have to do to some form of "group rounds".

I think the best way to do it would be something like 5 groups of 15 players (How many NYCFC players have there been?) and the top 5 per group advance. Can vote up to 3 players in each group. Then we do elimination in the final stage.

Hmmm, could work... Only problem might be confusing people with voting for "favorite" and then switching to "least favorite" in further rounds. Would be nice to somehow get more than ~20 participants, however that's not too important imo

To avoid confusion you could allow 10 elimination votes in the group stage.

I can't believe I'm about to critique a Survivor Results Best XI.....

Considering the footedness of the back-line, I think I would personally go with:

Callens - Sands - Gray - Tinnerholm

Thanks for putting this together Shwafta Shwafta. This was surprisingly entertaining during a very dull period.

This is actually a good call. Callens really likes to push forward.

Interesting you'd put Callens on LB - if that's the case, then Gray would be swapped for Chanot in the Best XI - I just figured going by natural position made more sense. Interesting to see you think Callens can play LB!

Ahhh, I see. I assumed you just looked at the last remaining XI and then plugged them in.

Callens is definitely a CB but I think can play LB if needed. In fact, last year at Chicago, he played at LB for the remaining 24' of regulation + stoppage time.

He does like to venture forward and is surprisingly quick. I don't think he has enough offensive prowess or ability to beat anyone 1v1 or send in crosses as a wide LB or has the ability to interchange quick, short passes to play as a LB cutting in in the offensive third though.

I do think he could play as a defensive-minded LB that occasionally gets forward when the time is right that would give even more freedom to a guy like Tinnerholm to bomb forward and have the back line shift into a temporary back 3 while Tinny is upfield.

TL/DR: I'm not advocating for him to play there but think he has the ability to shift there if we need to make a tactical change, such as what happened in Chicago last year (started with a back three of Callens-Sands-Chanot with Mata/Tinny as wingbacks then pushed Sands into midfield to form a back 4 of Mata-Callens-Chanot-Tinny, then subbed out Mata, moved Callens to LB, and Sands back to LCB).

That would actually be a really interesting tactic, would love to see deila try it - though I'm not sure he is a 3-in-the-back kind of guy

I've categorized this edition of NYCFC Survivor. A little bit of Forums cleanup. Discussion can still happen, just moving it to its own section.
Thanks!! When we start planning the next one I'll coordinate with you for the "2nd Edition" folder

You clearly don't know the forum contest rules! I'm pretty sure everyone on here is due a couple mugs
nono, I know that - I mean why does Adam deserve the mugs over anyone else? ;) Just for participating? Surely the "winner" would need to be due mugs, which in this case means I have to get Heber a beer. Anyone know his number so I could take him out for a beer?

Nah I'd say all Heber voters win the mug!
