NYCFC Training Facility Thread

I appreciate the unvarnished summaries, Ulrich Ulrich and Jon Jon. I get tired of the perpetual marketing forced-smiling and sugar-coating. Unfortunately, my experiences with these kinds of events at this club are similar - perfunctory and plastic.

I thought it was a nice event. Overall I would give it a solid B. Like I said, my biggest gripe was the lack of foresight that 2-3 hours back at World Class without much structure would lead to people bailing early. It would've been a perfect opportunity to partner with the Third Rail on something. Could've even been a tifo painting opportunity.

Thanks for the report. I agree the dead time was a mistake. There should have been some sort of dog and pony show. But you can’t ask volunteer TR board members to take a vacation day to entertain you for 2 hours.

It was merely a suggestion. I'm not trying to force people to do something they don't want to do. Just saying the time could've been more productive. The team could've done some sort of community service program if people were interested.

Listening to SITC pregame, Crooks says club has option to expand facility.

USL team will likely be a hybrid like Houston-Rio Grande with NYCFC controlling sporting side and US owner controlling business side.

Still believe strongly they should do a deal with the LI Roughriders. Great brand, and it would extend City’s reach in to the LI burbs, which is key. Should be enough interest out east to support a few thousand at a USL match too.

Didn't know that, but I like it. I think having a Rough Riders team in the USL would be perfect.

yup, a little off topic from this thread but... May 9th US Open Cup for the Long Island Rough Riders Game is at 8PM @ Burns Park in Massapequa. Admission is free, if anyone wants to go and support them. Ill be there which a bunch of guys.

Brining this thread back to life for a brief rant.

Does anyone think our training facility is inadequate/outdated? I feel like a lot of these other training facilities blow ours out of the water and I wish CFG splashed more cash and got the team better digs.

Yes. Especially when you’re trying to recruit away from NJRB and what they offer.

There's a fair bit of that sentiment expressed here, spread around and not just in this thread.

What? No.

They haven't posted everything about what's inside the building, but it has everything a player wants and needed? Oh, do they want a shinier, bigger building with glass windows? That's bullshit.

The minimalist response was not what I was expecting from you.

It’s fine for a first team facility. Nothing great.

Save the $25M they should have spent on the training facility to make it LAFC or Atlanta levels of shiny and add those resources to making the stadium, f*cking amazing.

Team plays at the stadium ~17 times per year. Team trains at training facility ~11 months each year. Current training facility doesn’t have capacity for more than first team - academy teams are transient when there.

Don’t know about you, but I prefer working in a top-end office that I’m proud of and enjoy coming to compared to past offices that skimped on creature comforts and facilities.
