Nycfc V San Jose Postmatch

I just voted an hour ago, and if I'm reading things correctly less than 10 people have voted so far.

I have a rating of .45, so I reckon a lot of other guys were also dishing out the 7's & 8's. ;)
They seemed to have not supported it lately. Didn't include this week

Ned, Ned, Ned

Hard to beat up a guy that produced, but it was laughable at times watching him try to handle a pass. Skill-wise the worst player on the field last night. But. Ned did play hard and he seems to have a sense of off-the-ball movement. He's probably playing that attacking mid role better than anyone else and it's really what this team needed. I would keep playing him. I'd play the same 6 up there the rest of the way.

AJ went missing the second half.

Villa hustled surprisingly hard, had fewer offsides calls and I didn't see that hands on the hips crap. Seemed genuinely happy to be back in there. Should have left him out there for 5 more minutes or so.

RJ & Wingert are playing the LB/RB roles correctly. The talent level isn't the best, but they know their roles. Angelino is not a LB and won't be in Man City either as he grows. He's a LW/LM.

Pirlo was good. Lampard was good. Things are starting to gel a little...for them and the whole team.

What to do with Poku. Idk. It feels like a waste to just bring him in for 20 minutes. Having him, Shelton and Mullins off the bench is a nice setup though. We need a very good defensive Mid. I'm back and fourth on AJ.

Rewatching the game now. Frank is so active, and even though he didn't score he was in a dangerous spot all game. Folks may pick on our DPs being old, but they all look really sharp, and most importantly, like they're having a ton of fun. This is the attractive, exciting, offensive soccer that we've been expecting -- and the type that draws in fans.

Can't believe you just cant be happy that we won. It's like you would want rather jk be wrong then the team do well. What kind of fans are you?

I get your frustration, but ultimately what can you do? People are people and some people of our fans seem more committed to negativity or proving their own points than smelling the roses of good performances, wins, and the most improbable event of the season, the Grabavoy brace.

A group behind me was so thrilled when they saw a player down (RJ) and thought it was Wingert that they began laughing and clapping and chanting for Angelino. Then when RJ did get up from his injury and make his way off-field the fans were predominantly chanting for Angelino outside of the group near the dugout who looked to be doing the right thing clapping Allen off the field for his performance.

Then you have the constant We Want Poku chants. Never mind that it was, 20 minutes into the game, or right after we scored, or right after the player he would almost certainly replace scored again, or that 11 guys were busting their asses executing a solid game plan on the field and actually winning a match. Some just want Poku more than they want to respect the team or the result.

Angelino and Poku are exciting to watch. If I was picking the team I'd pick them to start. But nobody's paying me to run a soccer club and I love going to YS and watching Jason Kreis' team play soccer.

I enjoyed the heck out of the game regardless, everyone's entitled to an opinion and to chant what they want to, so ultimately just gotta say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's been a pretty weird season overall with more downs than ups. But if we finish in 7th and just outside the playoffs I don't think we can complain too much. For an expansion team this is a pretty standard finish for the first season. Orlando is also proof of that as they are in the same boat as us. Although you could argue that we had even more uphill battle than them since we were starting completely from scratch.

Just makes me more excited for next season. Despite all the bull shit surrounding the team, we were still in the playoff hunt until the end. Next season we'll have all three DP's from MD1 and a core to build off of. I'm pretty confident that next season we'll be in the playoffs and be very competitive.

This.

Can we collectively boo this chant in the future? Though that could also be misinterpreted. I just have always hated fan actions that bring your own team down. I'll talk on this board about wanting Kreis gone. But on game day I support my team 100%. Even Kreis.

He got an own goal (wasn't going in without a deflection) and Frank's beautiful cross hit his dumb, talentless forehead.

Hysterical! Yes .. we are all happy with the win. Best game yet! The crowd was awesome in every section! But .... if we want any chance of being the team next year that we should have been this year, these simple truths need to be realized. Even Grabavoy can have a good match but he's still Grabavoy, Wingert's hair is better than his play, and "We want POKU!!!" will continue to be sung loudly every time Frank runs out of breath.

Ummm hi guys... So I just woke up and I'm a little hung over. I got a little careless drinking because I thought I was in a dream and I could get away with it. There's no way that I would have ever imagined I would wake up to the reality of Ned scoring a brace in a win....
I consumed amounts of alcohol on Saturday night that should never be repeated, so I really do not think I can comment too much on the performance of many of our players Saturday night.

On the first goal, I was certain that was in no way shape or form Grabavoy that scored. I was certain the PA announcer was lying to me when he announced it. The guy standing next to me proclaimed, "If Grabavoy scores again, I'm pouring the rest of my beer on my head." I jumped right in and said I'll do it too.

He then had a few chances that got me drinking my beer a bit faster so maybe, just maybe if pigs flew and he happened to put a second one in, I could lean on the fact that I was out of beer. I just couldn't drink quick enough however until Lampard crossed in and Grabavoy rose in the air like Michael fucking Jordan and put it in.

I didn't even celebrate the goal, I was dumbfounded. I just turned to the guy next to me, shrugged my shoulders, and dispensed $6 worth of beer on my head.

That said, he shouldn't start again.

What happens when our guys get forward and give Villa help up top? Magic happens. That is the only available explanation for a Grabavoy brace. It was magic.

Great offensive teamwork on Sat. None of those goals would have happened without it. Altidore better be taking notes.

Don't criticize the "We Want Poku" chants. Fans pay a lot of money to attend the games. Sports are a form of entertainment. If Poku is what entertains the fans, then they should cheer for him to be on the pitch.

I am still unhappy with the formation. Playing Villa up top alone kills me. It's on Kreis and Saunders to find a way to get him the ball without bombing goal kicks 60 yards to a 5'9" Striker posting up a 6'4" CB. It's stupidity.

"We want Poku and a sane formation!" Is my new chant.

The "we want Poku" chant started on the play where Villa made that great pass to Grabavoy that should've been a goal but instead hit him in the ass because he wasn't paying attention. Once the stunned disbelief passed the entire supporters section spontaneously started up with "we want Poku."

So it wasn't just random, it was a direct response to that play.
